Two radios are configured exactly the same - channel, interference code, and qt off. A few days ago, the problem was I could send from A to B and it would work fine, but when the PTT on B was pressed it, no ack beep or voice came out of A. You could hear slight static on A while the PTT button on B was pressed, so it knows there is some kind of connection. Now today, both radios have the same behavior as the bad one before. I can PTT on either one, I hear a slight static on the other but no voice or the ack beep. The ack beep on the sending unit sounds normal. Also, in either case sending the alert tone doesn't work either. Batteries seem good, hold a charge and show full meter. Tried changing interference setting to different values.
Hi,
The question I would ask is:
How close are the two radios to each other when you contact from one to the other?
A distance between the two radios of about 10-15ft, preferably more is desirable to achieve audible results, having the closer than 10ft, causes one to cancel the other out, so you either hear static, feedback or nothing.
Try 15ft of more distance between radios and see what happens.
Pls feel free to post the results here on the two way radio forum, as I'm interested to find out what happens.
Cheers, Peter@FixYa Team

Hello, There is not compability issue, sounds like you have a mic problem because you hear the Roger Beep and that means that the transmition and Reception cicle is working if you could test an audio accesorie would be great. There is another possibility if one of the radios is out of frequency you could experiment the same symtoms.
SOURCE: We have 4 T8500 - only one can talk, the other 3 only recieve.
Can you tell if the radio is actually transmitting? Is there any sound on the transmitting radio or a light inditcating that it is indeed transmitting? If not maybe the PTT button is malfunctioning. Try to use a microphone plugged into the accessory jack and see if it works. Another option is if you have a radio scanner, search the frequency range while transmitting and see if you pick up that open carrier.

Agree with eradiostore, check your batteries and battery contacts. Remenber to turn off the radios before charging.

No if they power up the batteries should work are they both on the same PL code you have to set the channel and the code the same.
SOURCE: Beep tone when I press the "mon" button, phone won't receive.
sounds like one has a low battery.
To transmit to a radio that has QT noise filtering turned on:
1. Select the same channel and Interference Eliminator Code as the other radio.
2. Press 'musical note' button to send a call tone. This allows your voice to pass through the QT
noise filter on the receiving radio.
3. Press the PTT and speak normally.
Note: If you skip step 2, the beginning of your message may not be heard on
the receiving radio.
For a 30-second period, starting after the last transmission, all transmissions
received on the selected channel and code will pass through the QT noise filter.
Also, your QT filtering will NOT work if you are in scan mode.
