Run the utility; depending on the speed of your processor, it could take seconds or about a minute to pull up the info. <Click> on the mainboard tab, it'll list the manufacturer's name and model number of the MOBO.

A third way to locate MOBO information, Open the <RUN> dialog box from the start menu or by pressing the windows icon key and the letter R simultaneously.

Type <MSinfo32> (without the arrows) and press <enter>

The BIOS ID will be displayed- sometimes manufacturer info and model number will be displayed.

If not, you will be able to determine the BIOS as being either AWARD or AMI (American Megatrends, Inc.); and from there, be able to decode the ID number to a specific manufacturer.

• AWARD: first five digits indicate the chipset & the following two digits identifies the manufacturer; you'll have to go online and search who that two digit manufacturer is.
• AMI: the MOBO manufacturer is Identified by the last four digits in the third group of numbers.

The cmos battery is located on the top side of the mobo but you need to open the back panel to remove the mobo and access the battery.

Five long beeps for a modern motherboards indicates a processor failure. If you wish to remove the processor and re-seat it (reconnect it to see if it begins to work again) make sure to get some thermal compound to put between the CPU chip and the heatsink. Based on the user manual starting v.2 dated April 2004, this mobo uses a dip switch array to set your processor and bus speed.
You will need to set the correct processor speed based on manufacturer [AMD] description.

Your mobo rans in Athlon 64 socket 939 compatable processor. The fastest processor there is that you can install in this mobo is AMD Athlon64 4000+ Socket 939 Processor. =)

with that smell of burning means the processor ur trying to ugrape was not suited for the board so pray that the motherboard is ok

It is impossible to fry a motherboard by using the wrong processor, the board simply won't post. You can use a chart at the ECS website, your motherboard is a Socket A type. Looks like the fastest processor that they have tested is a Athlon XP 3000+.

This sounds like an overheat problem, is your cooling fan working properly, also the processor you are using is a powerful one, so needs a cooling fan much more powerful than the lesser powered athlon 64 processors.
