I have a LG 37in LCD TV which for which I just added DVR capabilites. I now have CC on most channels, and am unable to turn it OFF. HELP

I scanned the entire manual for your recorder and found no mention of simultaneous dvr functions as you specified, so I have no choice but to say no you cannot...sorry...

It has got to be the box. I would try to contact Scientific Atlanta if any way possible. The TV doesn't choose what inputs it shows CC.In other words, it would show it on all Inputs if it was the TV. Good luck and Thanks

You don't need to scan for channels if it is connected by a HDMI connector, just select HDMI 1 or 2 depending which one you have connected the cable to at the rear of the TV. You should now receive the already set channels from your cable box.

CC is either active on the Cable Box or the TV, check your settings on both.

Based on your description, it appears that you have main board issues with your unit since your controls do not work and some inputs are NG.

the captions are on in the dvr cable box. you cable guy can emter the menu on the box and turn it off. Some boxes will allow you access by pushing the power button on the box while tv is on then immediately pushing the menu button but be careful.

i have the same problem with the closed captions... i believe to turn off the captions you have to use the remote. press the CC button repeatedly until closed captioning turns off. in my case i lost my remote so i am unable to use the method to solve the issue. Can someone please confirm that this works. so i can buy a replacement remote. Thx

With TV on, turn off DVR and hit menu on DVR remote - you can disable CC from there.  Worked for us - got the idea from another fixya post.
