You could try cleaning the gasket very thoroughly with bleach water especially any creases and folds. You will likely have to do this on a regular basis to keep the mold from coming back. Beyond that you could replace the gasket but there is still no guarantee the problem wont happen again with the new gasket. I hope you can at least alleviate some of your health issues. Good luck.

My daughter, son in law and grandbabies are living in a house they rent that has black mold, roof leaking and shoddy repairs done, they covered the mold with new drywall,

Not good. We had experience with mold with my daughter's asthma. Some can be toxic. I would get them out of there if I were you. Drywall will NOT stop the growth of mold. Only delay the inevitable. God bless them and get them out of there. SOON!!! If the slumlord owner won't break the lease agreement, threaten to turn him into the housing or health department. There are laws in some areas about what is and isn't acceptable.

We have mold along the inner rim of the rubber gasket between the opening and the door. How can we get rid of/prevent?

Robert, You can buy or make up your own mold Rid/ cleaner, which you will spray on bad areas and wipe off. Tip if possible leave washer door open so trapped moisture can air dry.
Check the attached links, for mold Rid/cleaners.

Future value

When you buy it is worth $60, 000
I will assume that at the end of a year it is the whole new value of the house that is increased by 5%.
After 1 year value=60,000*(1+0.05)^1
After 2 years value=$60,000(1+0.05)*(1+0.05)=60,000*(1.05)^2
Do you see the pattern?
After 7 years, the value of the house will be 60,000*(1.05)^7

However if the increase is not compounded
Then after 1 year value=60,000*(1+0.05)
After 2 years, value=60,000*(1+0.05+0.05)=60,000*(1+2*0.05)
After 7 years, value=60,000*(1+7*0.05)

Depending on the coumpounding or not the two values will be different
With compounding: final value=$84,426.02
Without compunding: final value is $81, 000.

I showed you the possible mathematical solutions. It is now up to you to decide which is the one that applies to your case.

After taking my AC out of storage for the year I just discovered Black Mold growing inside the unit . Is there a way to take off that air flow screen and get in there to clean it out? What would be a...

remove the screen to get to it but follow these precautions.
In order to get mold out of various surfaces, it is important to first obtain proper protective gear. You should check to make sure you have all the necessary protection before you start, such as goggles and a disposable outfit which you can wear during the cleaning.

The first step is to wet the moldy area with water and soap spray. This stops the mold from continuing to spread through the air, which it will do if you do not spray it first. Then, you can use a vacuum to **** away remaining mold spores from the affected area and any surfaces close by which might also be affected by mold spores.

Next, you want to be sure to rinse all areas where you have scrubbed. You can use a wet-dry vac if necessary if too much water has collected. You should then take some bleach and water and apply it to the surface where containing the black mold. Warning: do not mix bleach and ammonia! This can lead to a deadly combination of gases. Make sure you follow the instructions on your cleaning ingredients labels.

You will probably have to leave the solution on the affected area for 6-8 hours or thereabouts. It should be able to dry on its own. You can also use fans, dehumidifiers, and any other type of air circulation device to let the area dry as quickly as possible.

It is important to note, however, that it is very important to let the mold dry; otherwise, it will reproduce. Every mold spore must have a chance to be completely wiped out to prevent it from coming back at any further date. Once the entire contaminated area has been scrubbed away, it should be okay to start using the previously affected room again for any usual purposes.

Ultimately, black mold removal must be done with care and caution. You must ensure that every surface which has been affected is thoroughly cleaned. If it is not, you run the risk of mold returning which can cause serious health problems, as mold is a deadly substance and can create huge issues for any house or building which is affected by it.

Be sure to properly protect yourself when cleaning non-porous materials or any other household surfaces while you remove mold, both to prevent damage from the mold itself and from the chemicals you use to clean it away. This is very important to ensure good safety and preventative measures for mold removal and permanent care and treatment of the moldy spots.
