Look In the rear bottom where the wires plug into the compressor. There will be a plastic cover plate over the connecting wires. Remove it. Unplug the white wire. note the white wire was plugged into a small black box (3/4"x3/4") pull the black box out. It is connected by 2 prongs. If you open this up you will find a small metal disk that looks like a watch battery. pop it out and clean the contacts. put it all back together and it should work fine. I believe it is the thermostat and many times gets bad contacts and can even crack over time. The compressor will "click" on but the bad thermostat tells it "no"

Yeeha68 hit the nail on the head. I did exactly as he suggested, and sure enough, the small metal disk inside the black box where the contacts touch it was broken in two. Now, where can I find a replacement part for this???

Magic Chef mcbr415s compressor is hot and its not cooling

Magic Chef mcbr415s compressor is hot and its not cooling

It sounds like your Magic Chef refrigerator is experiencing a cooling issue. The fact that the compressor is running constantly and getting hot suggests that it is working overtime to try and cool the fridge, but it's not able to achieve the desired temperature.

First, check to see if the temperature controls are set correctly. If they are set too high, this can cause the compressor to run constantly. Additionally, make sure the fridge is not overfilled, as this can restrict air flow and prevent proper cooling.

If those checks don't resolve the issue, it's possible that the power outage may have caused damage to the compressor or other components. In this case, you may need to have a professional technician take a look at the fridge to diagnose and repair the problem.

Unfortunately, if you are unable to access the condenser coils, it may be difficult to troubleshoot the issue yourself. You may need to contact a technician for assistance

Not cooling

If it has a starting capacitor, it may be defective. If not, a hard start capacitor kit may force it to start and run again. Also unplug fridge 20 minutes and let the motor cool down. They have high temperature shut off thermostats to help prevent other problems.

I have a Magic Chef compact fridge. There was a lot of ice build up in the freezer compartment. I attempted to defrost it last night, but I also tried to break away the ice before it was completely...

either the defrost heater element or defrost thermostat is open behind the rear wall where all the ice buildup was and is bad or the defrost timer in the front area isn't working to defrost the unit on a 12 hour schedule, you will need to test each component

Wine fridge not cooling

It is normal for a compressor to be hot to the touch, but not super hot. clicking noise sounds like the relay located on the compressor terminals is bad. Hope this helps

Freezer works fine fridge part not working at all, magic chief

I would look at air flow as the cause. First, look at the inside back wall of your freezer. If you see a buildup of frost, you have a problem in your defrost system (timer, heater or thermostat). Second, listen for proper operation of your evaporator (freezer) fan. I have seen motors turning too slow or blades coming off the motor shaft.
You may also make sure the fresh food door closes properly, and the light goes out inside the fresh food compartment.

Koolatron Mini Fridge Overheating

Check the condensor fan behind the fridge which is designed to cool the compressor/gas line by blowing air over the condensor. When this fan motor seizes or stops running, the gas gets very hot and because it is skin cooled too, the outside of the fridge also gets very hot. You can overcome the problem temporarily by putting a standing fan behind the fridge, blowing onto the compressor and under the fridge untill you can have the problem rectified.

Re: Magic Chef

If the compressor is running but the fridge is not cooling, the gas may have leaked out of the system or the compressor is inefficient. The only way to know for sure is to connect a set of gauges to the system. You will need to call in a Refrigeration Mechanic.
