I've plugged it into the wall outlet. Fridge's motor gets hot but does not turn on to cool the fridge. I hear one click but nothng happens. I've unplugged, turned it off. Waited. Plugged into outlet. Turned on to setting 3. Waited. Turned up setting to 7. Still not cooling but yet the motor in the back continues to get hot/warm.
Look In the rear bottom where the wires plug into the compressor. There will be a plastic cover plate over the connecting wires. Remove it. Unplug the white wire. note the white wire was plugged into a small black box (3/4"x3/4") pull the black box out. It is connected by 2 prongs. If you open this up you will find a small metal disk that looks like a watch battery. pop it out and clean the contacts. put it all back together and it should work fine. I believe it is the thermostat and many times gets bad contacts and can even crack over time. The compressor will "click" on but the bad thermostat tells it "no"
I have a GE Profile - Fridge n toop, freezer on bottom - Motor will not shut off and does not cool the fridge - does not freeze freezer only cools it?
Yeeha68 hit the nail on the head. I did exactly as he suggested, and sure enough, the small metal disk inside the black box where the contacts touch it was broken in two. Now, where can I find a replacement part for this???

Same problem. Mine is 4 years old. I checked the connections. They are fine.
