Resetting your Refrigerator filter indicator light after changing your water filter

Some people are not aware that after you change your refrigerator water filter, there are two more steps that should be taken to complete the water filter change process.

Step 1:
Reset your water filter indicator light - Most new refrigerators come equiped with an indicator light that notifies you when it is time to change your water filter. This light does not automatically reset when you change your water filter. Here is a list of refrigerator manufacturers and how to reset the indicator light.

GE General Electric Refrigerators - Press and Hold the Reset Button for around 8 Seconds.

Step 2:
Flush a couple of gallons of water through your new filter. Since most refrigerator water filters are made of carbon, some carbon residue is present in the first gallon or two of water. This will leave a bitter taste and residue in your water. If you continue to have these problems after flushing a couple of gallons through the filter, it is possible that you have a defective water filter.

How to change water filter?

Hi

Find the indication light, located at the top of the Whirlpool refrigerator just inside the door. This tells you when to change your water filter. A green light indicates the filter is good and a red light indicates you need to change the filter.

Find the filter knob. It is usually located at the base of the refrigerator in the kick plate or grill.

Turn the knob a quarter turn to the left to unlock the filter. Pull out and remove the old filter.

Add a new filter and push in. Turn the filter a quarter turn to the right to secure it in place.

Reset your filter indication light inside the refrigerator. Press down and release the switch five times within 10 seconds. The filter indication light should then turn green.
Please get back to us if you have further query or else please accept the solution.

I have a Maytag window air conditioner unit (model M6T12FSA). The 'check filter' light came on and after I cleaned the filter, the 'check filter' light remains on even after a few hours of...

Turn the unit OFF & Unplug it. Remove the filter and reinstall it, being sure that it's installed properly. Particularly, which way the plastic filter frame is facing when installed.

Plug the unit back in and turn it ON. Hopefully, the electronics now will accept the filter being properly in place.

Hope this helps and thanks for choosing FixYa.

How do i reset the filter light on my refrigerator msd278ge

Hello,

Simply press and hold the dispenser lock and auto light buttons on the dispenser (at the same time) for four (4) seconds until the filter status indicator begins to flash, then release the buttons. On some Amana refrigerators, you need to press the dispenser lock and water buttons for four (4) seconds until the filter status indicator begins to flash, then release the buttons.
Also note that

  • Remove the old water filter from your refrigerator by turning the handle counterclockwise and pulling it out of the filter holder. The filter is located in the upper right corner of the refrigerator.
  • Step 2Slide the replacement filter into the filter holder and turn it clockwise.
  • Step 3Press and hold the "Reset Filter" button until the indicator lights go off if your model refrigerator has a "Reset Filter" button on the control panel.
  • Step 4Hold the "Lock" and "Light" buttons on the control panel until the filter indicator lights turn off if your model refrigerator does not have a "Reset Filter" button. For models that do not have a "Light" button, press and hold the "Lock" and "Water" buttons.
  • Good luck......

Kaz Honeywell Tower Air filter rest light

When the filter monitor light remains on, it is time to check/clean the IFD™ filters and reset the filter
monitor, if needed. With the unit powered on, insert the tip of a ball-point pen or paperclip next to the LED
filter check light and hold for approximately 5 seconds until the light turns off (Fig. 3). Depending upon
your individual usage (environment and hours used), you may need to check and clean the filters more or
less frequently. If the IFD™ filters are cleaned before the filter monitor light turns on, the filter monitor
should be reset at the same time.
