Turned out the filter had a leak. So first shut of the water valve that made the connection to the fridge then twisted the filter counter clockwise and replaced it with a new filter.

Our Ice maker is not producing ice. I've tried using a hair dryer to melt possible frozen water. It worked once, but now that ice maker is back to not producing ice.

The heating element is not working to heat the base and free the ice from the tray. At this point it's probably better to just replace the ice maker. They are about 60-70$

The ice maker does not produce ice. The arm moves up by itself after I move it down. The filtered water spigot works, so I assume the ice maker is getting water. How can I remove the ice maker from...

Water valve has 2 solenoid so solenoid for water dispenser could be working and one for ice maker may not be. Visibly inspect ice maker to see if water is in it.

KitchenAid KSRG25FKSS16 Side by Side will not make ice

First I would check for obstructions in the line from the water inlet valve to the tray assembly. If thats good check the valve it self. This is a double valve, it supplies water to the door and it supplies water to the ice maker. Check and compare both coils. They should be around 300 Ohms. If not, replace it. Try Partselect.com

Not producing ice

There are several possibilities. The dual water control valve is defective going to the ice maker, defective ice maker thermostat; frozen water fill tube leading to the ice maker is blocked with ice. You can see if ice maker is working by filling it with tap water and waiting to see if it dumps. If it does not empty the icemaker of the ice I would think ice maker thermostat. If it dumps ice and does not refill I would say you need a new dual water control valve. Sears has a complete model number system that is confusing I know. Sears made it that way. Not sure why but look around the cold food door while open and look near bottom on the frame just above the kick plate. The number looks like this, (model No. 253.64802400 for example) I will need that number to help you solve the sound alert coming from your refrigerator. Find that number and we can go from there, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Ice maker not producing ice

Check your water valve first. It is usually in the back of the machine on the bottom. If your water valve is bad the it will not fill with water. When it does fill with water and it does rotate to drop ice but doesnt drop it that is probable the heater on the bottom of the ice maker not working.

Check the following suggestions from repairclinic:

The ice maker has a problem The ice maker is a separate appliance within the freezer section. Please see the How things Work section of our website to learn about the normal functioning of ice makers. Some common problems with ice makers are:

The ice maker has completely stopped producing ice
The ice maker is producing ice poorly
The ice maker has completely stopped producing ice Check to see whether the ice maker has been turned off. Here's how to check. Look for a wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If this wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. On some units you simply lower the wire to the down position to turn the ice maker on. On others, you lower a small red plastic lever to lower the wire. If the wire is in the proper position check the freezer temperature, it should be between 0-8 degrees Fahranheit. If it is warmer than 10-12 degrees, the ice maker may not produce any ice. Check your door seals and thermostat, repair/replace as necessary.

The ice maker is producing ice poorly When an ice maker is producing ice poorly--when it produces just a few cubes or none, or when the cubes are too small--it's usually because of a clogged water line or a defective water inlet valve.

First, check the water line attached to the back of the refrigerator for good water flow. To do that, first turn off the water supply valve. Then remove the water line from the back of the refrigerator. Next, place the water line into a bucket and momentarily turn the water valve back on to test the flow. If the flow is poor, you need to repair, clean, or replace the tubing or the shut-off valve that supplies the water. If the flow is good, you may have to replace the water inlet valve.

There's an ice- or water-dispensing problem The ice and water-dispensing system of your refrigerator is quite complex. Many components work together to provide the ice and water. Aside from a simple problem of a leaky water tube or a jammed ice chute, most other components are not user serviceable. We suggest that you contact a qualified appliance repair technician for such repairs.
