Along with it beeping every minute, four green lights blink every second: the Pots & Pan cycle and all three Options lights (Heated Dry, Hot Wash, and Hot Start). I have unplugged the unit for several hours at a time but when I plug it back in I get the same error. It's not locked but pushing any of the buttons (including reset) has no affect. I have opened and closed the door many times to see if that was the problem. The door seems to be closing and latching OK.

Same issue, machine is about 30 days past waranty. Door switch broke, but of course they (GE repair) do not fix the switch, you have to order the Escutcheon Body (whole panel) to fix ~$350 total.

Although this post is old, I will help anyone else that is searching for the answer. I too had this problem but after looking at the schematics for this dishwasher, I could see where the problem was.
First, open the door and remove the eight screws that hold the inside cover to the front door on. BE CAREFUL. There are wires attached from the front panel of the door to the inside panel for the soap dispenser.
Close the inside panel by slowly raising it up into its closed position and locking into place.
Looking at the front panel from the inside, there is a black box at the top with a white PLASTIC PIN. This pin activates the "CLOSED" signal to the control unit.
Push and HOLD the white pin DOWN until the system resets.
If this does not work, you may need a new unit which runs about $6.
After reseting the system, raise the front panel slightly and press and hold RESET/START for 5-6 secs.
Now, with a second person holding the inner liner against the machine tightly, I started a cycle and it worked fine.
Unlock the inner panel and slowly lower back down and replace the 8 screws.
It's really very simple 10 min fix. the reason this happens is due to the flawed design of the SWITCH PIN, which is not rigid enough. It tends to move side to side and become stuck.
A better quality PIN assembly would solve this issue for GE forever.
Have fun.

Hi There are two ways to reset it: first to reset press and
hold the RINSE ONLY/HEATED DRY button for 30 seconds. Second way to reset is by
pressing these buttons in sequence...high temp wash then heated dry...high temp
wash then heated dry...follow this for around 4 times and then wait for 2 minutes
to reset the unit. If the issue returns then it is either the heating element
or the control board that is bad and should be replaced. Please Hope this
helps...please post back for further assistance. Daniel
