If I fill the washer using hot water it fills right up. When using the cold setting, the water just trickles in and takes longer to wash clothes than it does to dry!
These units were in the house when we moved in 6mos ago and we can't afford new ones right now.
Firstly check that the cold tap is turned fully on, u can also check that the strainer on the water inlet hose is not blocked (where it connects to machine) if they are ok it could be a water solinoid
Turn off water. take water hose off from behind washing machine.look into where you screw in the hose.see if the little screen filter is plugged up with rust, lime deposit, dirt, sand, etc.while hose is off turn on cold water and see if there is good pressure.if screen is plugged up use a small screw driver to remove. clean it. reinstall.
Take the cold water hose off at the machine. Check the small round screen at the cold water inlet. Clean it if it's clogged. If its OK, then the cold water solenoid is partically clogged. Sometimes they can be cleaned, if not, you will have to buy the part.
There are screens inside the water inlets where the houses connect to. take the cold water house off from the back of the machine and take the little screen out from inside the inlet itself. you can use needle nose plyers to do that. then run the screen in some warm water and remove the gunk that it has. this should fix the problem once you put the screen back into the inlet. if you leave the screen out, then the inlet will eventually get clogged with debri. good luck :)
Your cold side on water valve may need the screen cleaned.if that doesnt help then you will need to replace your water valve.take hose off cold water side of water valve and you will see the screen.it may have alot of blockage.

I fixed it. The inlets going into the solenoid valve were plugged. Cleaned the screens and it works as it should.
