Rinse water fills the washing machine when the spin cycle starts

Again, the water pumps out fine if the feed valve is closed. The machine thinks it is supposed to turn the water on when it does the final spin. WAshibng machine trips RCD when washing, usually at the filling stage. Machine will operate on spin/rinse cycle with no problem. Suspect it is the heater. All indicator lights function. A few seconds into cycle (just as water begins to fill) the door lock disengages, the lock indicator light goes out and cycle stops. my washer operates normally in all other ways, but when I try to use the rinse and spin option it does not fill with water. There is noise but no water enters. Red light comes on and i've check the filter/pump outlet which has been clear of debris but still no action from Washing machine. Red light flashes then goes constant but no water pumped or spinning at all. When starting a load of wash water goes out the drain instead of filling up in the drum where clothes are, have to plug the drain hose and then it starts to fill, does in both when starting a load and when starting rinse cycle. Machine fills with water. Completes the wash cycle and drains. It hangs when it gets to the rinse cycle. I can cancel the cycle and switch the machine to the rinse cycle and it will complete.
