I have 2 Sunbeam electric heater and when I use them on level two for heating they shut off within 5-10 minutes maybe less timing. Then I have to restart them again, after they cool. THe other heater won't heat anything, has power, but will not turn on when I try to move the knobs. Please help!!
If you have the same heater i do then in between the elements at the bottom there is a safety swith that bends when it heats up and breaks the connection Dont mess with it plugged in it will shock the hell out of you but if you bend it down it wont be able to lift off the circut and will stay running untill you turn it off
I have the same Sunbeam quartz heater that would stop working after running fine on level 2 for a few minutes. I tried your fix (bending down the switch metal) and it worked.
Yes but will it burn ur house down is that a SAFE fix ?
I dont seem to find the metal switch,
Pictures plz
I can't find the metal switch you talying about!
Can u send me a picture of its location please

It is probably the top vents clogged with dust mites not allowing air to circulate to the over temp sensor. Clean with small screwdriver and vacuum out, then blow out with canned air.
Ain't no "dust mites" fool. It's dirt.
Can you send me a picture of it please that's

Yep - cleaning out the air vents at the top of the backside worked great! Apparently an issue of airflow.

mine does the same thing every year. I just clean out the dust from the vents on the back of the heater so the heater can breath otherwise it could get too hot and the safety fetcher kick in and makes the heater stop working.

I'm not an expert, but I have two of these units that are working fine.
The on/off switch (the top switch) has a light in it that illuminates when the heater is on and heating. If this light comes on and there is no heat, then the element is probably burned out.
The heater has a safety switch that prevents the unit from working if it is not upright. If the heater was stored for any length of time on its side, the safety switch might have stuck in the off position. Unplug the heater and with the heater upright, try shaking it or slapping it firmly with your hand to se if this fixes the problem.
If none of this works, then as sunmasc says, the thermostat is bad.

I tried to go to www.desatech.com and you cannot buy parts on that site anymore. I can get my Reddy Heater parts at www.masterparts.net.

If a drop of water passes through the system and causes a momentary flameout condition, the photocell tells the control board to shut down- and it does. The photocell has done it's job. The ignitor only gets red for the first 5 seconds of burn-time, then the flame keeps itself going, at least until the water passes. Since water doesn't burn the flame goes out and there is nothing to restart the flame.

There are dip switches on the main board.. When you remove the lower panel on the air handler there are instructions to where the dip switches should be for your units fan control. if the switches are in the correct configuration.. The Thermostat may be malfunctioning or not wired properly. and last.. and most expensive.. the motherboard may also be failing.

Usually answered in minutes!
But will bending the safety switch burn your house down is it a SAFE fix
I had this same problem, shuts off after about a minute running on high heat. I cleaned the small intake slots on the top rear, they were plugged with dust mites. Now the heater works fine on high heat. Seems the over temp sensor needs air flow, or it opens and shuts down the unit. Then I had to unplug the heater and wait 15 minutes for the sensor to reset. Fixed now!
