Ice maker won't make ice after emptying ice bin manually.
I emptied ice maker from the ice bin directly, instead thru ice dispenser.
After that, ice maker stopped working. it still dispense water though. It is Kenmore model.
My ice maker doesn't have a lever ( or shut off arm). I don't know what is taking the place of a lever. It is Kenmore side by side model.
I think a newer model comes without a lever.
Please help.My ice maker doesn't have a lever ( or shut off arm). I don't know what is taking the place of a lever. It is Kenmore side by side model.

This is caused by air leaking past the seal in the shut door. Push in on the paddle and release and watch the door shut close. It should make an air tight seal. You can also shine a flashlight in the shut and look at the opposite side to look for light.
If you wish to get some details about refrigerator repair then check the following link ; visit the site linked here. Pull up older posts. http://electro-medical.blogspot.com/
If the ice maker tray is empty you may have a water valve failure. usually this unit have a dual valve 1 for the dispenser the other one for the ice maker some time a side fail and the entire solenoid have to be replace. the ice maker can also be bad. an easy way for you to test if ice maker is good is by putting water manually inside the ice maker tray depending on how cold is your frig wait about 2 hrs or less if the ice maker cycles and drop ice then water solenoid is the problem if not then replace ice maker.
Pull out the ice storage bin from the refrigerator. Empty the bin if it is full. Add some ice into the bin. Reinstall bin into refrigerator. Make sure the refrigerator door(s) are closed. The ice will not dispense if the door(s) are open. Press the ice dispenser with a glass underneath it to start dispensing ice. Listen for a whirring sound. If there is a sound, then the auger that moves the ice cubes is working. Check the ice shoot in the door to see if it is blocked with ice. If you don't here any whirring sound the motor that runs the auger is probably bad. Then you will have to replace the whole ice maker assembly.
We will need to check the voltage at the auger motor while depressing the dispense switch. If all the other features work on the dispenser panel while I would consider checking the voltage going to the motor. Some auger motors are in areas where water causes the voltage to be shorted by constant moisture. We will need to remove the panel and simulate what you have done on the outside but this time we need to see if the voltage has been altered or if the auger motor itself is defective. Sea Breeze
The ice door located in the ice chute in the door is not closing. Allowing wam air in your ice bin which melts the ice at the bottom of your bin there for making a huge ice dam. Replace cirercut board at cost of 295.00
There is a metal wire that gets pushed up when the Ice becomes too full and turns off the ice maker. You can pull it back down with you hand and that will unlock it and turn the ice maker back on.
There is something called a crusher control rod located on your icemaker bin. If you pull the bin out, you'll see it protruding from the backside of the bin. That rod inserts into the solenoid, which looks like a hole usually when looking in the freezer with the ice bin removed, it's toward the left side behind the bin.
This solenoid and rod work together to give you either crushed or cubed ice. See if the solenoid is stuck or iced up. You should be able to remove the ice and push it up and down to break it free.
My icemaker stopped producing ice. We turned off the water line to it when we went on vacation for a week. We turned the water back on when we got home and since that time it won't produce ice. We can still get water from the door dispenser though.
My ice maker doesn't have a lever ( or shut off arm). I don't know what is taking the place of a lever. It is Kenmore side by side model.
I think a newer model comes without a lever.
