I had the same problem with the screen on the Iphone 3G going black but the phone still rings. Hold down the top button and the main button for about ten seconds. The apple logo will show up and reboot in about another 20 seconds.

I had the same problem just now with my iPhone 3G. It froze for like an hour and a half! I heard calls come in but wasn't able to answer because the screen wouldnt come up. I pressed the top clicker button and the main button for about 10 seconds and the apple logo came up (finallyyy). It took about another minute and then the screen came back up and prompted me for my passcode. I hope this can help you all!

Solution 1 one just worked for me right this second. I have the iPhone 4 and I I figured it was a IOS7 problem. I held the home button and the screen button down at the same time for about 10 seconds and WAAAAAAALLAH!!! The little apple appeared.

When you charge your iPhone from the wall port, you must make sure your iPhone is fully off every time. it is essentially a mini computer and overheats if you charge it while its on. its fine if its being charged from the computer. best way to fix it is to plug it in the computer and either sync it or download new softwear for it, as this reboots the iPhone's system and inner working, which is what you would have to pay $20 to have someone at an apple store do for you.

Make sure the sound/vibrate switch on the top left side of the phone is set to sound, then push the volume control button just below the sound switch to raise the volume as high as it will go...you should see some indicators on the screen when you switch the sound on and raise the volume...hopefully that will help

Have you tried going to the apple iphone website and looking for answers? It sounds like the back light may have quit working or battery bad or a software problem, not really sure because I haven't had any problems with my 1st gen Iphone I don't know about 3G iphones.

I have had my iphone less than a week- i did not expect it to have problems so soon. .... i have iphone 2g my battery ran out now it wont recharge or turn back on? .... but it doesn't turn on, it...

If your iPhone's battery runs very far down, the iPhone won't turn on. That's because it's using its remaining battery life to preserve your data and settings. So, your iPhone could be refusing to turn on because its battery doesn't have enough juice. In that case, plug your iPhone into a wall charger or into your computer (plug it directly into the computer; some USB ports on keyboards don't have enough power to charge iPhones). Let it sit for 10-20 minutes. If it was low on battery and needed a charge, when it's got enough juice to power the screen, it will turn on and show you its charging status, starting with the red battery icon.During this process, you may also want to make sure there's no lint packed into your cable or the iPhone's dock connector. This isn't a hugely common problem, but a lot of pocket lint could interfere with the iPhone getting a charge.

Press and hold both the POWER and the HOME buttons at the same time for 5 to 10 seconds to force restart it. Don't release until you see the apple logo.

I've dropped my phone a couple of times, and now the screen is senseless. It was vibrate, turn on and off, but I can't function anything on the screen. Please reply ASAP!!

Your LCD is likely dead now. While your phone might still recieve calls, and you could swipe to answer, you won't likely see anything on the screen. a repair usually is $75 for a 3G, for more answers contact us at griffinconcepts.com
