I have a JVC HD-52z585. I have sound, power and lamp led come on normally, the lamp is on, but no "image" on the screen, no menus, nothing but an illumated black screen. There is not a problem with the lamp, it is working, I am suspecting the "light engine" has gone bad that displays the image on LCOS chip?

Hi
Usually, if the red light is flashing and you get no picture, that means that the lamp life cycle is finished and you'll have to get a replacment lamp. the lamp has about 3000 hours of life (2 to 3 years under nomal use).
You can buy a replacment lamp from here

Hope this helps

SOURCE: JVC HD DILA 56G886. replaced lamp and now it shuts down after 10
we found that it is an auto shut off system on the TV due to over heating. The lamp, if not cooled correctly shuts down. We added a mini fan in the back and it seems to work fine now.

I would, it's cheaper than replacing the whole TV and you can do it yourself so no labor bill. The new lamp usually comes with directions and in my experience the JVC lamps are outlasting some of the other ones.

It normally means the lamp is in need of being replaced, and its all depending on the use of the TV as well as how long the lamp life is. You should be able to access the lamp via a small section near the rear or the back of the TV unit, if the lamp is blown or faulty it will look the same as a blown light globe.
To obtain a new lamp contact the brands authorised repair agent as they will be able to get trade prices and in turn, give you the best price,
Also make sure that whoever replaces the lamp resets the lamp use time as the TV will still not start if you don't reset the lamp use time as it will still think it has a faulty lamp. I hope this helps, good luck.
