I have the same issue. It's distracting my workout. I live in an apartment and I can't help but worry that the neighbors are going to complain about the banging noise eventually. you must be steping on the machine for the generator to allow you to set its functions , keep steping until you have entered in your requirements and weight and workout that you would like to have ,this will allow your programming also to be saved ,also see if you have battery backups on this model ,they can be dead ! , hope this helps thanks glenn
