SOURCE: RUUD UBHC-17J14SFA HEATING PROBLEM

you may have airflow issues, verify the inlet and outlet temps with the unit running on start up, if the unit exceeds the "rise" allowable then the safety devices "overtemp" will take the firing circuit off line until it cools down. The acceptable mfg. rise is listed on the nameplate inside the burner chamber, (generally on the side wall)

SOURCE: recently changed thermostat on gas furnace w/ cent air

Unfortunately, a strick standard does not exist for wire terminals and colors. However, there are "norms" which I will be happy to share with you.
Red - Rh & Rc (Jumpered)
Blue - C
Yellow - Y
White - W
Green - F

Note: this is assuming you have only ONE transformer in your low voltage circuit for both heating and cooling. If there is a low voltage transformer at your outdoor unit you will need to seperate Rc & Rh. At this point, I have to recommend a trained, qualified service technician. A good service technician should be able to resolve the wiring issue in under 30 minutes.

I only wish I was able to look at exactly what you have to include tracing all the wire back to the furnace and condensing unit. Tracing the wire is the only sure-fire wire to do the job correctly.

I wish this could have been a black & white answer; however, I do hope you found this information helpful in your endeavor. Good Luck to you! :-)

Testimonial: "thanx, but i figured it out....new thermostat required a battery for led display...elim. blue added jumper-good to go....thanx though!"

My system uses a permenant air filter. It's missing. It's a Ruud Model UBHC-21J18SHG. What size filter should I put in this system?

The Ruud UBHC-21J18SHG has a nominally 21" cabinet width. So the needed filter is 19.75" x 21" x 0.375" (502 mm x 533 mm x 9.525 mm). The Ruud part number for the filter is 54-23217-03 .

The specifications sheet for the Ruud UBHC series air handlers is available here: http://www.coburns.com/images/PDFs/h22-517rev1.pdf . The filter size information is on page 3 and page 12.

I've found the filter at one online vendor: http://www.patriot-supply.com/products/showitem.cfm/RHEEM_68_101807_03 . (This is a common filter that fits several manufacturer's air handlers.)

I hope this helps.

I have a ruud model no. ubhc-17j11nfd and i am having a problem with my heat. when the heat does come on, the thermostat says it is on auxilary heat. i am getting no suction from inside the house but the...

If you haven`t changed your furnace filter do so. If there still isn`t any air flow then the evaporator coil is plugged with dirt and needs cleaned. It is inside your furnace where the pipes from the outside unit connects. As far as the auxilary heat, this is normal when the house temperature drops to far below the thermostat set point and they will turn off when the house is close to temperature and lets the heat pump take over.
