Particles in ice cubes

Just bought a new Whirlpool side-by-side fridge a week ago with the ice/water on the outside door & when ice cubes are added to the filtered water there are opaque particles floating in the water. When only the water is used, the particles are not present. We've cleaned all the ice making parts we could reach and installed a new filter, but the problem still persists. How can we remedy this?

Thanks, JimmyMood for the reply. We have dumped several batches of ice out in a about a month's time. The particles are still present & are not in the water by itself. As soon as ice is added to the water, the particles are present. We can't seem to figure out what is causing the ice have these particles.

I have the same problem only it is with the water not the ice. The ice is clear but the water has the particles in it.

The solution did not work for me. Any other suggestions?

Most new water/ice systems have break-in procedures in the manual, including flush a couple gallons of water through the water dispenser and disposing the first 24hrs of ice.

Are the particles present in the filtered water before adding ice? If so, you can probably assume the contamination is from the water tank so you should flush several gallons of water through the system to get rid. If the particles are present after adding ice, try pulling out the ice bin and dumping the ice.

The water dispenser is not putting out water and ice maker is not making ice. The fridge frequently cycles like it is trying to send out water.

it's still under warranty for up to 1 year, call whoever you bought it from and it should be repaired free of charge and next time you write send model number.

Whirlpool side by side GD27DQXFW01; ice cubes are not dispensing

We will need to check the voltage at the auger motor while depressing the dispense switch. If all the other features work on the dispenser panel while I would consider checking the voltage going to the motor. Some auger motors are in areas where water causes the voltage to be shorted by constant moisture. We will need to remove the panel and simulate what you have done on the outside but this time we need to see if the voltage has been altered or if the auger motor itself is defective. Sea Breeze

Amana side by side

Undissolved minerals can appear when ice cubes are added to chilled drinking water. Freezing tap water causes dissolved minerals to solidify and scatter, giving a cloudy appearance. When ice cubes melt, any undissolved minerals settle to the bottom. These mineral compounds in our drinking water are naturally occurring and safe.
Sometimes we see black particles which can be the non-stick surface of the ice mold flaking off.

Ice Maker not working

Get me the model number. Put tap water in ice maker tray and make sure arm is down. Let it freeze. Wait and see if the ice will drop, this should allow water to come into the ice maker for another run. Let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Bad water & ice cube taste

Hello redwood City
Welcome

You said,
Your Kitchenaid Superba KSRG25FKBL15 has bad tasting water and ice cubes. You replaced the copper tubing which delivers the water to the fridge and that didn't help. You replaced the copper tubing again with plastic tubing...no better. Any suggestions? Your tap water doesn't taste this bad.You bought a Kenmore french door fridge with water dispenser in the door in July 2008. The fridge has a filter. A few weeks after the fridge came the water and ice started tasting really bad, unlike any bad water taste I have ever tasted. And your tap water is fine. The bad taste appears to be random. Sometimes you get a cup full of nasty water and sometimes it tastes fine.

First you must know you have a 1 year warranty and can have them come out to fix anything, no charge. If it persists. You will have to get tough and you , MUST INSIST THEY REPLACE YOUR FRIDGE

When installing the water line these were a part of the directions!
Did you do this before connecting the water line to your fridge?
"Place the free end of the tubing in a container or sink, and
turn ON the main water supply. Flush the tubing until water is
clear. Turn OFF the shutoff valve on the water pipe. Coil the
copper tubing."

Whirlpool remedy
Off-taste, odor or gray color in the ice
1.Are the plumbing connections new, causing discolored or
off-flavored ice? Discard the first few batches of ice.
2.Have the ice cubes been stored too long? Throw old ice
away and make a new supply.
3.Does the freezer and ice storage bin need to be cleaned?
See “Cleaning” or “Ice Maker and Storage Bin.”
4.Has food in the freezer or refrigerator been wrapped
properly? Use airtight, moisture-proof packaging to help
prevent odor transfer to stored food.
5.Does the water contain minerals (such as sulfur)? A filter
may need to be installed to remove the minerals.
6. Is there a water filter installed on the refrigerator? Gray or
dark discoloration in ice indicates that the water filtration
system needs additional flushing. Run additional water
through the water dispenser to flush the water filtration
system more thoroughly (at least 2 to 3 gal. [8 to 12 L] or 6 to
7 minutes initially). Discard discolored ice.

Let me know what works,
Thank You ,
HUUUM!!

Ice maker stopped after electric shutoff

You may have a problem with the computer control board in the ice maker.  Try this.  Turn off the icemaker for about 2 minutes.
Turn on the ice maker and press the clear button.  Press and hold this button for 12 seconds to get it to force extract.  This will confirm that the motors will work and push the ice cubes out.  Afterwards, let it run by itself.  If it still doesn't make ice, you will need to replace the icemaker.

Our fridge does not make ice - Whirlpool Gold side-by-side GS5SHAXNT00

Same as others. Whirlpool Gold side-by-side. Water was running yesterday but minimal ice. Now that's gone and I don't even hear the water. Turned on/off the infrared sensor. Still get drinking water, just no ice in the bin. There's a couple cubes in the maker itself when I open the door (which I've closed completely). Help?
