what if it is not the capacitators? looks like the main thing everyone else has replaced first has been the flyback, then power supply, then, capacitators. what should i repair first? and can i repair? or do i need a service tech, and how much do you think they will charge me, for parts/labor in these instances? what/how would they know what is exactly wrong- i mean, whats the first/easist thing to check? Ok, im rambling now- but any ideas, and THANK YOU for replying ladywinn!!!what if it is not the capacitators? looks like the main thing everyone else has replaced first has been the flyback, then power supply, then, capacitators. what should i repair first? and can i repair? or do i need a service tech, and how much do you think they will charge me, for parts/labor in these instances? what/how would they know what is exactly wrong- i mean, whats the first/easist thing to check? Unplug High voltage lead from HV splitter. This is a red wire going from HV transformer to similar (white plastic) device located up front, between picture tubes. Disconnect the one which is coming in, by strong energetic pull down with pliers. Leave those which go to picture tubs in. Make sure that disconnected wire is far from other components or metal parts (high voltage - SEVERAL INCHES SPARK CAN OCCUR) Turn the unit on - if different than 3 blinks - the splitter is your problem.
that model doesnt have any replacable bulbs. there are no consumable bulbs or lamps for that model. what is the problem with the tv does it not turn on? that model was notorius for power supply failures where the tv would try to power on and get a green light on front and come on and off 3 times.
That could be the CP150 CP120 and CP114 capacitors. You can get the RCA repair kiy by that same name from www.tvrepairworld.com which also contains the repair instruction CD.
Check the solder connections on the flyback and also right next to the flyback there is a small white coil with copper wrapped around it that will sometimes arch causing the solder to need re-soldering
If the green light comes on and goes off 3 times and then goes off for good you have a problem that will require troubleshooting by a qualified tech and there are several things that cause this unit to go into shut down. None of these issues can be corrected easily.
