"door lock" light stays on and oven won't work

Tried to clean the oven with the self clean setting but the door would not lock and it would not start to clean. Tried again later and the door locked but the oven still would not start the self clean cycle. The door unlocked, but the "door lock" light flashes and the oven will not work. Tried to reset the whole thing by turning off the breaker but that didn't work either.

I have the exact same issue and need some ideas on what to try to fix it. I'm tempted to re-start the cleaning for another 2 hours, but not sure if I'll end up regretting that one too...Ideas?

I have the same exact problem and have not figured out how to fix it. I tried tripping the circuit breaker and it did not fix the problem. It looks as thought the door locking mechanism is not functioning. The lock needs to be reset but I have not found the key to doing that. HELP!

Mine's doing the same thing. The locked door light is on, but my door opens fine. But since the light is on, it won't let me do anything! I tried the circuit breaker and nothing. I tried cleaning it again to see if it would reset, but nothing. It doesn't even want to reset. Is there something I can do to force it to reset?

Same problems. When I removed the lock operating arm nothing happened. Motor is not operating. I've temporarily kluged it by tying the "unlock" (upper) switch circuit together and disconnecting one side of the power to the "locked" (lower) switch. At least we'll have an oven to use, but I'll have to come back and remove the lock motor assembly to find out what's really wrong.
BTW, if some knows those keyed-in service codes they could be useful.

On mine, I was able to take of the face plate and unscrew the metal locking arm from the motor. Once i wiggled the locking arm away from the locked position I was able to open the door. Once i opened the door, the little motor which controls the locking arm automatically rotated to the unlocked position and cleared teh "locked door" message on the control panel.

I had this problem also. There is a motor on top of the oven after taking it out of the wall. The motor spins around and locks and unlocks the door. When the motor spins all the way around to unlock the door it also activates a switch to turn the oven back on to normal operation. The motor on mine is stuck and did not spin all the way around to activate the switch. I do not know if the motor is broken or something else in the wiring.

This happened to me, had the appliance repairman come out to fix. He hit and held a combination of buttons on the oven controls and reset the panel somehow. But now I don't know what he hit to clear it. Do any of you?

Brandt FP464 Oven Door Locked

On most of these ovens, you can either unplug the unit or flip the breaker from the main and keep it off for ten minutes, then either plugs it back in or turn it back on, and then hit and hold the start/cancel button on the control board for twenty seconds. Yu should hear a beep and then you should see the display light up and ask for you to set the time. If it does this, then the reset has worked. If so, put the oven into a self clean cycle and hit start, listen for the machine to come on, and about a minute later cancel the cycle and see if the door unlocks. If that doesn't work, you may have a bad door lock assembly and you will be forced to manually unlock the door.

To manually unlock the door, stick a screwdriver or heavy wire coat hanger in between the door oven and the door lock and see if you can disengage the door lock. If you manage to get the door open, leave the door open and put the oven into another self clean cycle. If after hitting the start button to activate the self clean cycle, you notice the door lock either not moving or getting stuck closed again you will need a new door lock assembly. If after hitting the start button, the door lock seems to be working fine, the door lock had probably shorted out during the cleaning cycle and looks to be okay now.

Scholtes FE46 and the door is locked. Also no clock/timer lights. Temp/function and oven work but is locked even though completely cold.

Here are a couple of things to try:
  1. Unplug the unit or shut off the circuit breaker for 5 minutes. Plug the unit back in or turn on the circuit breaker. Set the clock and gently try moving the door lock lever (is so equipped) or opening the door.
  2. Set the self-clean cycle again and only allow it to work for 15 minutes. Cancel the self-clean cycle and allow the oven to cool. Gently try moving the door lock lever (is so equipped) or opening the door.

  • Program the oven to self-clean.
  • Wait 20 seconds.
  • Cancel self-clean.

To self-clean your wall oven, follow these simple steps:
  • Remove the oven racks.
  • Set your oven control to "Clean."
  • Select a cleaning time or choose a cleaning level: light, medium or heavy. For typical cleaning needs, we recommend that you select a cleaning time of three hours or choose the medium setting.
  • Select "Start." (To set a delayed start, see your Use & Care Guide.)

Note: For safety reasons, the oven door will remain locked until the oven cools down. When it is sufficiently cool, the door will automatically unlock.

Can I clean a TruTemp oven with soap and water without ruining it?

Hi,

Yes you could clean it.

Check few details :-

t the bottom of this post you will find the web address for your ranges manual and the self clean system is in side this manual.

How to self clean

If your model has a door latch, never force the latch handle. Forcing the handle will damage the door lock mechanism.
The oven door must be closed and all controls set correctly for the cycle to work properly.
Before a Clean Cycle
For the first self-clean cycle, we recommend
venting your kitchen with an open window
or using a ventilation fan or hood.
Remove any broiler pan, broiler grid, all
cookware, probe and any aluminum foil
from the oven—they cannot withstand the
high cleaning temperatures.
NOTE:
If your oven is equipped with nickel oven
shelves, remove them before you begin
the self-clean cycle.

If your oven is equipped with gray
porcelain-coated oven shelves, they may
be left in the oven during the self-clean
cycle.
Soil on the front frame of the range and
outside the gasket on the door will need to
be cleaned by hand. Clean these areas with
hot water, soap-filled scouring pads or
cleansers such as Soft Scrub®. Rinse well
with clean water and dry.
Do not clean the gasket. The fiberglass
material of the oven door gasket cannot
withstand abrasion. It is essential for the
gasket to remain intact. If you notice it
becoming worn or frayed, replace it.
Wipe up any heavy spillovers on the oven
bottom.
Make sure the oven light bulb cover is in
place and the oven light is off.
IMPORTANT: The health of some birds
is extremely sensitive to the fumes given
off during the self-cleaning cycle of any
range. Move birds to another well ventilated
room.

NOTE: Use caution when opening the upper
oven after the self-clean cycle has ended.
The oven may still be hot.

How to Set the Upper Oven for Cleaning
On models with Gas/Control Lockout,
touch and hold the Gas/Control Lockout
pad for 3 seconds to turn it off.
NOTE: The surface burners must be turned
off prior to the self-clean start time.
If your model has a latch, latch the door.
Touch the Self Clean pad.
Using the number pads, enter the
desired clean time, if a time other than
4 hours is needed.
Clean cycle time is normally 4 hours. You can
change the clean time to any time between
3 hours and 5 hours, depending on how dirty
your oven is.
Touch the Start pad.
On models without a door latch, the door
locks automatically. The display will show
the clean time remaining. It will not be
possible to open the oven door until the
temperature drops below the lock
temperature and the LOCKED DOOR
light goes off.
The oven shuts off automatically when the
clean cycle is complete.
When the LOCKED DOOR light is off,
slide the latch handle to the left as far
as it will go and open the door. If your
range does not have a latch, the door
will unlock automatically.
The words LOCK DOOR will flash and
the oven control will signal if you set
the clean cycle and forget to close the
oven door or forget to latch the door
on models with a latch.
To stop a clean cycle, touch the Clear/Off
pad. When the LOCKED DOOR light goes
off, indicating the oven has cooled below
the locking temperature, unlatch the door
(on models with a latch) and open the door
The oven door must be closed and all controls set correctly for the cycle to work properly.

How to Delay the Start of Cleaning
Make sure the clock shows the correct time
of day.
On models with Gas/Control Lockout,
touch and hold the Gas/Control Lockout
pad for 3 seconds to turn it off.
NOTE: The surface burners must be turned
off prior to the self-clean start time.
If your model has a latch, latch
the door.
Touch the Self Clean pad.
Using the number pads, enter the
desired clean time.
Touch the Delay Start pad. The earliest
start time you can set will appear in the
display.
Using the number pads, enter the time
of day you want the clean cycle
to start.
Touch the Start pad.
On models without a door latch, the door
locks automatically. The display will show the
start time. It will not be possible to open the
oven door until the temperature drops below
the lock temperature and the LOCKED DOOR
light goes off.
The oven shuts off automatically when the
clean cycle is complete.
When the LOCKED DOOR light is off,
slide the latch handle to the left as far
as it will go and open the door. If your
range does not have a latch, the door
will unlock automatically.
The words LOCK DOOR will flash and the
oven control will signal if you set the clean
cycle and forget to close the oven door or
forget to latch the door on models with
a latch.
To stop a clean cycle, touch the Clear/Off
pad
. When the LOCKED DOOR light goes
off, indicating the oven has cooled below
the locking temperature, unlatch the door
(on models with a latch) and open the door.

After a Clean Cycle
You may notice some white ash in the oven.
Wipe it up with a damp cloth after the
oven cools.
If white spots remain, remove them with a
soap-filled scouring pad and rinse thoroughly
with a vinegar and water mixture.
These deposits are usually a salt residue
that cannot be removed by the clean cycle.
If the oven is not clean after one clean cycle,
repeat the cycle.
You cannot set the oven for cooking until
the oven is cool enough for the door to
unlock.
While the oven is self-cleaning, you can
touch the Clock pad to display the time
of day. To return to the clean countdown,
touch the Cooking Time pad.
If the shelves become hard to slide, apply a
small amount of vegetable oil or cooking oil
to a paper towel and wipe the edges of the
oven shelves with the paper towel.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
