My Kenmore 70 series washer will not agitate or spin. It makes a loud clicking noise instead of begin the agitate or spin cycle. I even tried it empty to see if it was an overload.

Sadly, the gears in the transmission are broken. My wife wanted a new machine anyway. Thanks for the help!
My wife reports to me that our Kenmore 70 series washer does not agitate or spin. She thought the clothes made it through a complete washing cycle, but the clothes seemed too wet, so she put the clothes back on rinse and spin cycles, but the agitator and the drum (basket) would not move.
When I got home I vacuumed the water out of the mashine and tried it in every setting. The agitator barely moved, but I could hear the hum of the motor.
