The sound works fine and the picture quality is still visable but its just a soft blurry and its like its faded to the right.
My Sony Trinitron KV-27S42 Has a color problem which I know what the problem is based on a YouTube video also the focus is on and off I turn the T.V. off the picture comes back clear then days later the focus is off focus again same thing T.V. Off on again clear can someone please give me an answer
Check the filter capacitor to the supply to video output card. You can locate this capacitor at the CRT base card to your Sony Trinitron. Replace this electrolytic capacitor.

As focus is intermittent; I do suspect the CRT base socket. This is a main cause found with large screen Sony TVs, especially when the humidity is high.
The CRT base connection socket, can cause this. Large screen type Sony Trinitron TVs will have two focus.
One for vertical, and the other horizontal.
A cloggy CRT base connector may cause the fault you described here.
Just replace that CRT base connector socket, located at it's base card.
I've repaired this kind of fault to one Sony large screen TV, I do recall.
Just contact any experiences technician.

If you know where the fly back is, ok open the casing and see at the back of the fly back, there are two knobs, one for the focus and the other is for the brightness. Try twist both and see which one is for the focus. Ok, from the focus knob try adjusting until the fuzzy sight disappears. Try this, I usually do it to screens with blurry appearances.

I Just had the same problem with my Sony KP43HT20, was a blury picture with the red & green going bad.......My set had defective convergence IC's, they are known to go in Sony's..IC's run about $30 a piece. Good Luck.

You likely have bad solder connections around the tuner area. This model has a history of problems in that area or the tuner itself.

TV Repairman came out today to look at my Sony KV-36XBR250 today with the exact same problem - he was able to adjust the settings through the service menu, but said it was a temporary fix only.
The picture tube is going and the Sony circuitry has a "video mute" that it uses when it senses the tube is not warmed up enough. The degraded state of the tube causes the blinking on and off as the signal from the tube wavers.
He ballpark estimated the tube replacement cost well above the price for replacing the set with a 37" LCD, so it's going to the dump...

the picture tube is gone.
i repaired 150 sony xbr and kv series with that problem.sony has a single gun not three and has a great pix,but burn out faster.
there is a main screen control that you can adjust ,but the tube is gone.
on the back of the crt there is 3 gun drives r g b .
turn the color all the way down so it is black and white.
if there is a green ore purple tint,one gun is out of balance.
ajdusting the r g b controls so that black and white is normal is what you want to do.
the crt board has the screen bias voltage 800volts on it so be very careful and use an insulated screwdriver to adjust the drive controls.
