Nothing happens when I turn the key

What make , model ,year an engine size ? Won't turn over how ? When you turn the key to the start position does anything happen ? Crank - no - start . or nothing happens no crank - no -start .

Need more info. What engine ? gas or diesel - size engine . Won't crank ???? When you turn the key to the start position what happens ? Does the starter engage an spin the engine over ? This would be a crank - no - start ! Now if nothing happens when you turn the key to start ,this would be a no crank - no - start .Now , which is your problem ? tbc fault ???? Electronic throttle control fault ??????

No start how ? When you turn the key to start does the engine crank ? this is a crank no start or when you turn the key nothing happens . this is no crank no start condition . Both have very different diagnostic's .

What happens when you turn the key to start the vehicle ? Does the starter spin the engine ? Crank - no start condition ! Or does nothing happen when you turn the key to the start position ? NO - CRANK - NO START condition ! Two totally different diagnostic procedures.
So will not start how ?

you need an ignition switch. One way to figure it out is to turn the key to engage the starter, quickly........over and over, the "catch and start" will happen with no change and suddenly, its engaged. Or, keep the key in the START position, don't let up on it and hit the steering column with your fist, or the steering wheel. It may just be shorting out.

If no movement of the engine happens at all, then please check the following:

1) Battery voltage. You should have 12.5 volts and over. Try turning on the headlights and cranking. If they dim considerably, then your battery is likely flat and may need charging/replacing.

2) Battery voltage is fine, but nothing happens: Is there a clicking when you turn the key? If so, then check the starter motor. It's likely failed.

3) Battery voltage is fine, but there is no clicking when I turn the key. Check voltage to the starter motor solenoid on the top of the motor. If it is receiving power when you turn the key to crank, yet not moving/engaging, then replace it.

4) Battery is fine, but no power to starter motor and/or solenoid. Check all battery connections, leads and connections to the motor and engine body.

will the engine crank when you turn the key, and will not start or does nothing happen when key is turned on. If nothing happens when you turn the key, you may have an dead battery. if it will crank and not start, may not be getting fuel or the engine isnt fireing. Check fuel first, then check to see if it the spark plugs are getting fire.
