Sounds like the click is coming from the back right side of the engine. replaced solenoid 9-23-12, charged battery 9-22-12

Usually if all you hear is a clicking noise, it is the solenoid itself that has gone bad...if you can jump the solenoid and the mower turns over, it is the solenoid.
SOURCE: Will not Start
There won't be any voltage going to the starter until the key is turned to 'start' with the brake locked down. And to check that, you need to disconnect the wire to the starter. I would first check the current going to the solenoid when the switch is turned to start by disconnecting the insulated wire going to the bottom of the solenoid and hooking a test light or voltmeter to it and turn key to start. Again the clutch/brake pedal has to be held/locked down. If there is power going to the solenoid but not to the starter, it's a bad solenoid. Hope I've explained this so you can understand. Dwain

Those boxes are probably relays. Sounds as tho one of your safety switches is not working correctly. Make sure you have the machines brake on, blade off, and any other safety measures are applied, such as the operator is sitting in the seat. Check the wiring connections at all the connections where the safety features are installed. Probably just a connection that is not letting the system know that all systems are indeed applied.
