Question about Kodak A270 72-in-1 Card Reader
It should be picked up by your os system as an external drive, as too my knowledge this reader does not require a cd to run

I concur with solutions #1 & #2 above, but still had problems that turned out to be caused by a loose connection. It took me several attempts making subtle movements of connections both in the USB port on my Windows 8.1 PC as well as the micro-USB port on the A271 device.
So be patient and keep trying by moving the cable slightly and waiting to see if lights come on and PC finally recognizes the device. Once my PC finally recognized the device it still did not have a solid connection and device kept appearing and disappearing; so I made a very slight movement of the USB port connection and finally fully connected!
Prior to the above I had also called the Sakar support line and they told me it's a plug-n-play device and should just work, and gave me steps to power-cycle PC, move cable to other port, etc. Which I had already done without success.

For Windows XP/Vista/7, built-in drivers support the flash media slots (XD/CF/SD/MS).
The install CD is only required for the SIM card slot. Sakar (which actually manufactured this Kodak-branded card reader) sent me this link for the SIM software:
I haven't gotten mine to work, though.
