Bad Hard Drive - Toshiba Satellite A665-S5170

Laptop kept giving me messages saying, "Bad hard Drive. Please contact manufacturer for detailed information if it can be repaired or replaced." Every time I turned on the computer, it kept running CheckDisk but could not find a fix for the error.

I suggest you back up your hard drive right away and have the hardware tested for possible replacement.

I purchased the Toshiba A665-S6086 approx 1 month ago. The battery on the computer seems very loose. Should it have "give" in it or should it be more stable? Also, the sound vibrates when you...

- The battery should fit snuggly. Have that checked.
- As for the sound problem, most likely, you have the "Hard drive protection utility" installed and enabled.

When you move the laptop, the hard drive protection kicks in and the read/write heads go into park position freezing the laptop for a fracture of second. Apparenlty this causing the sound to statter.

You can disable the hard drive protection for a while and see if it fixes the problem.

Also, try reducing the movement detection sensetivity in the hard drive protection utility.

My computer says "No hard

One of two things is probably the case:

1. Your hard drive is missing and a new one will need to be installed.

2. Your hard is not missing, but it has become loose and either from its housing or where the housing connects to the laptop.

Please give a detailed description of the manufacturer and model of your laptop so someone may give you clear detailed instructions for how to check to see if you hard drive is either missing or if it has come loose somehow.
