SOURCE: pump will not run when it is hot

Metal heats as it expands so if you have a fit that is tight to the maximum tolerance cold it can be rubbing as things heat up. If a motor is running inertia helps keep it going while the system heats but then it stops and once it has to restart, it can not develop the extra torque needed to get rotation started. Check for things such as sagging motor mounts on the pump motor, a worn bearing fit in a pump shaft or impeller assembly or a damaged wear ring inside the pump housing. Any sign of a rub would show you what to fix. It would be helpful if you clarified what brand and model the pump is and whether the whole unit was replaced or only a portion of it last year if these suggestions don't solve your problem.

Will the wireless valve for the lang act 202 btw work with other hot circulating pumps?

You can buy and under-cabinet water circulation pump at furthest point. They are about $200. You can install yourself.

My grundfos hot water circulator works great. how often should I set it to circulate the hot water, ever hour, before morning shower or evening shower.

Last one I installed, I used a PIR sensor to control it, so that whenever someone walked towards the bathroom or kitchen, the pump will start up and run for 15 minutes. It really depends how often you use hot water - if only certain times of day, then it would be wasting power to run the pump, and heat loss from the pipes (unless very well insulated). If you have a regular pattern of use, then you could use a timer/programmer as you would on your normal hot water or heating. If your piping is plastic, then don't run pump continuously, as some plastic piping is not recommended for continuous circulation at normal hot water temperatures.

Hi,
In most cases problems with the circulator pump boil down to two problems.
The most common is air in the lines causing an air lock.
The next problem is that the pump gets stuck and is not running even though itmay be hot and seem to be running. In this cause the pump can sometimes betaken apart, cleaned and it will work, but usually it needs to be replaced.

Here is a tip that I wrote that will explain circulator pump problems in moredetail.

Hot tub heating is working but pump has stopped

you may have a system that uses a small circulating pump that circulates the water thru the heater to keep water temp at proper level (this is usually the case with hot springs spas and is because it is the most cost effective way to maintain constant water heat without using a full size pump or two speed pump just to push water past the heater core. therefore the issue is you have a problem with your jet pump and it has nothing to do with the circulating and heating portion of the spa. you can check to see if there are any reset buttons in or near the equipment as well as open enclosures to make sure everything is clean and dry also make use any contacts on spa skirting are secured propertly
