I have two ASUS routers same model and i cannot cnnect one to the other. IP of first router: 192.168.1.1 IP pool: 192.168.1.50 - 192.168.1.254 IP of second router 192.168.1.30 and DHCP is disabled. Internet cable from first router to second is plugged in to LAN port of both. But there is no connection between the two routers (the little green light of the port it is plugged to is not on)
All routers don't work the same. You have assigned to the second router to an IP address that is outside of the pool. Some routers will not see this. Try assigning the second router to the .50 IP and see if it is identified. If so, you know that is your problem. You can then decide to either reassign the second router's IP to a high address in the pool, or use the .50 IP and in the first router, use the advanced settings to reserve the .50 address to the second router so it will not re inadvertently assigned to another device, causing an IP conflict.

My advice and personal experiences with both wired and wireless connectivity, is if you wish to share files and internet connection, purchase a combined Modem/Router and not a seperate router to work along side your original modem. Your modem will send your router an ip address in turn your pc is sent one from your router and can get complicated; keep it simple! These are much easier to set up and control as one unit and if there are ever any connection problems you will know it's either a setting or a modem/router problem and not have to wonder ; is it the modem?; Router? settings? etc. As there are frequent loss of connections both internet and LAN it makes sense have one peice of equipment to maintain.

hello!
-- can you get online if you connect your computer directly to your modem?
-- what is the operating system of your computer?
-- is this working fine before or is this a brand new router
you may try this and see if this help solve your problem. make sure your computer is directly connected to the router
Step 1: Shutdown the computer.
Step 2: reset the router while power on then Unplug the router’s power cable.
Step 3: Unplug the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for 30 seconds.
Step 4: Plug in the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for its lights to appear stable.
Step 5: Plug in the router's power cable once the modem’s lights appear stable.
Step 6: Power on the computer on and configure the router settings
Step 7: test the Internet connection.
if this still didnot work, upgrade the firmware of your router

This will give you a "Double NAT" setup. Meaning, Your D-Link router is connected to the external internet address assigned to you by your internet service provider. More than likely this is a DHCP address you do not control. Your D-Link router is then translating the address to the 192.168.1.x network. This is the first NAT translation. You are then connecting the ASUS router to DLINK, causing a second NAT translation. (Internet ADSL --> D-Link WAN Port --> D-Link Lan Port --> ASUS WAN Port --> ASUS Lan Port to computer/server/etc. ) If both of your routers are giving out DHCP addresses, then this is all that is required.

Both routers need to be on the same IP scheme and subnet i.e. 192.168.0.X subnet 255.255.255.0. First, unplug the Asus router. Next, make sure you have connection to the internet by hooking directly to the Apple router. Once you've established a connection to the internet plug the Asus router into the Apple router but go LAN port to LAN port.

Hi
You have to get the IP address of your internet service provide and once you type this IP address to the address bar. It will go you to menu set up of the router and set it up there. The encode the new password set up.
you must need to put in more than the ppoe connection type, there is the vpi =0, vci =38, then input your isp's username and password to get a connection.
All this must be done via the RJ45 cable and making sure that the pc's lan card is set to obtain an ip address automatically.
To get into the routers settings, type into your web browser either 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.0.100, as i'm not sure that actuall routers address, sometims it's on the underneath or refer to the manual.
