The best software for that is abbyy finereader.
home version or professional.

I got this message too, before I installed an OCR program. It may be that you need to install one (or specify it, if you have one already). With my MP610, an installation disk was included that contained the OmniPage SE program for OCR. When I installed that on my computer, and told MP Navigator (another Canon-supplied program, that controls scanning) to use it as the "Open With" program for OCR, it worked.

Try to do it by manually. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZlkJ-YDsZA
If you can get a print out from your printer.....do it as manually.
Go to window start button and find drawing tool under program....(there are games, calculator, memo..etc)
And open up the drawing tools and will see the scanning option under "file manu".
And try to scane manually...
If you would like to save money, try refill kit by "ROADINK".
Not only they are easy, but also the printing quality is good.
For your better understanding pls check out my youtube video.
And will see how easy ink refill can be done.

First, you must have the software installed on your computer (If you don't have the cds which came with your All-in-One, then post that as a separate question and one of us will find the download site for you). You need to open the Canon Solution Menu. The large button in the upper-left corner labelled "Scan/Import Photos and Documents" is what you need to click. For a complete user guide to your system, click the link below. Jump to PDF page 22 (which is the document page 20, since there are not page numbers on the first two pages) to see what I am referring to in my previous statements. I hope this helps!
