Channel jumping While watching programs from air the screen displays the lower half of a frozen image that was last seen. The top half of screen displays a frozen image from another channel. Audio maintains original channel reception without interruption. While watching DVD the display goes black. While watching air program through hd reciever picture freezes and turns to purple duo-tone. What to do?

Plasma with Burn in within 3 years, I bet. I've seen Week old plasma's with burn in. Plasma technology is not as good as some would make it out to be. Due to the nature of the physics of the device, it is susceptible to something called "Burn-in" When an image of any form is displayed for long periods of time on a Plasma display, they start to literally burn in or wear out that part of the screen faster than a moving picture elsewhere on the screen. ie. If you have a television that is always on one channel and that channel always displays the little logo in the bottom right of the screen (abc, cbs, speed...) that kind of thing, you will eventually actually be able to read that logo even when the plasma tv is turned off. Check your manual or the manufacturer's website for your tv, and somewhere in there, it will refer to a "half-life" of the tv. ie. if your model has a 2000 hr half life, after 2000 hours of viewing, the display can at maximum, put out 1/2 of it's total brightness output. after another 2000 hrs 1/2 again as bright. and eventually it will be so dim that it's unusable. This is a fault with Plasma technology, LCD does not have this issue. CRT used to have this issue, but advances in technology have lowered this risk. So. What you are seeing is remnants of a bright image that was more often shown on that part of the screen than anywhere else on the screen. There is nothing that can be done other than replace the unit (or the screen, but it's easier to change the whole unit). if you've had this unit for 3+ years, you did pretty well. doing the math, if you only use your tv for 2 hours a day, for the 3 years you own it, assuming a 2000 hr half life, you've broken that limit. meaning that you will have parts of your screen that are very likely half as bright as others. Nature of the beast (plasma). This is why they are not as popular as they are advertised. Try an LCD next time.

Press Setup, then go to Channel amd then AutoScan. (Use the up/down arrows to highlight and then press OK to advance to the next menu.) The channel option also lets you add or delete channels if you know the channel and sub-channel. If you see "No signal" make sure you have the best antenna for your area (distance to the stations), have the antenna pointed at the transmitter, and do not have any tall buildings and trees to block the signal. Make sure you have good cables (no damage to the ends or the insulation) and that they are connected well to the correct terminals. Amplifiers can bring in a weak signal but can be damaged by a surge over the antenna.

The other buttons: Display turns on the banner for the current channel. If this data is being sent, then it will provide the Program Title, rating, audio language and other information. (I've seen stations that give incorrect information or just a placeholder.) Still: Pauses the current image on the screen (the converter doesn't record anything so when you resume the program, it will jump to the current broadcast).

The set is probably in the wrong display format for the channels you are watching. Look through the setup menus for "Display format" or "Display mode". You need the menu that sets the picture for "480i", "720p", "1080p", etc. Set it for 1080p and see if that fixes it. The lower settings won't show all of the lines for a 1080p picture; they are used for old-style analog video or low-bandwidth broadcasts.

It sounds like you're watching wide screen content on a 4:3 tv, so the screen may be zoomed in so that the bars that would normally be on the top and bottom are not showing. Because the picture is zoomed in, images that would be at the top and bottom are off the screen. If you're watching from a home receiver (Uverse, DirecTv, Xfinity, etc.) you need to change the video settings to let the receiver know that your TV's aspect ratio is 4:3 (full screen) and not 16:9 (widescreen). Also, if your channel lineup has the option of watching CNN on a standard definition channel, that would also help because the shape of the image would be what your tv was designed for. If you watch 16:9 programs, you will have to choose letter box mode (bars on top and bottom because the shape of the widescreen image does not match the shape of your tv), pillar box mode (bars on either side) zoomed, or stretched. Stretched will make the shape of everything appear distorted, as it squeezes a widescreen image on the sides to make it narrow enough, so that everyone will have tall and skinny heads like an old Kung Fu movie. The sharpest picture would likely be to watch 16:9 (hi def) content in letterbox mode (bars on top and bottom) so at least you get the proper aspect ratio that the sports were recorded in, and it comes from a sharper source (HD vs SD). I would just deal with the bars, because even with a widescreen tv, there will sometimes be bars because that's how programs are sometimes recorded, for different visual impact or cinematic effect.

The Sony Plasma designe not to repair at component level your problem I believe in YSUS PCB you can adjust a few variables resistors on this PCB make sure to mark on the spot before turn you can alway go back to original point, set your plasma on normal channel turn the variable resistor slowly and observe the picture any spot will effect the picture if you can not adjust you need to replace a new PCB

The analogue hands are not precisely synchronised with

1. Press the lower right button to move the mode indicator
hand to CHR.
2. Pull the lower right button out one click. The hour, minute
and UTC hands will retract towards the straight up 12 O’clock
position. You will see UTC on the top half of the digital display.
3. Press the upper right button to advance the hands to the
straight up 24-hour position. Use the lower left button to go in
reverse.
4. Press the upper left button. You will see HR on the top half
of the digital display. Press the upper right button to advance
the hour and 24-hour hand clockwise until they both point
straight up at the 24-hour position. Use the lower left button to
move the hand anti-clockwise.
5. Press the upper left button. You will see MIN on the top half
of the digital display. Press the upper right button to advance
the minute hand clockwise or the lower left button to move
anti-clockwise until it is pointing straight up at the 12 O’clock
position.
6. Push the lower right button back in one click.
The watch malfunctions in some way and the above
procedures do not work.

2. Pull the lower right button out one click. Press the other
three buttons down simultaneously for three seconds and
release. You will see 8’s on the digital display.
3. Press the upper left button. You will see UTC on the top half

the hands of the top dial to the straight up 24-hour position.
Use the lower left button to go in reverse.
4. Press the upper left button. You will see HR on the top half
of the digital display. Press the upper right button to advance
the hour and 24-hour hand clockwise until they both point
straight up at the 24-hour position. Use the lower left button to
move the hand anti-clockwise.
5. Press the upper left button. You will see MIN on the top half
of the digital display. Press the upper right button to advance
the minute hand clockwise or the lower left button to move
