As long as you provide a variety of perches in your bird's cage, the choice of which to use for sleeping is up to your bird. Your bird most likely knows, instinctively, where they want to sleep. The only type of perch I would recommend not allowing your bird to sleep on is a sandpaper perch. My personal favorite perch style for sleeping is a Booda perch.

My budgie claw is swollen

could be "bumble foot" from wrong diet , infection or incorrect perch material
go www., beautyofbirds.com as the condition is well covered by this site
You may find exactly what your Avery is , the conditions and the feed that you have
Or you could simply take the bird to a vet for a proper diagnosis and antibiotics if it is infection or mites

I bought budgies from different pet shops and discovered that several keep crawling across the front wire of the cage. The question is will they settle down in the breeding size cage.

Mine did when I added branch like perches. Otherwise they did the cage climb along the front. I think the long perches didn’t fit their feet.

Sprayed brake switch on 650 Yamaha v star now lights won't come on till I mash the brakes, What kind of problem am I looking at

Sprayed the brake switch, with what? Water? If so, you can try to use some contact cleaner spray and spray into the switch area and work the switch to help it penetrate. WD40 is also a water displacement item which might help, but it may also require relubrication of the brake lever/perch. You may also check on the perch to see if you can clean and dry the wiring connector that runs from the perch back. A hair dryer or heat gun might help dry it out also.

Why don't birds fall off their perches while they sleep?

Birds have tendons on their feet, called flexor tendons, which respond well to pressure. This allows them to sleep comfortably on a perch without the worry of falling off. These tendons run down the back of a birds leg all the way to the tips of their toes. As the bird lands on a perch, the tendons pull on the toes and close them tightly.

How many perches should I put in my bird's cage?

You should have a minimum of 3 perches - one for sleeping, and two others made of different materials and of varying sizes. This will give your bird enough variety without overcrowding the cage.

What are Manzanita bird perches?

Manzanita perches are natural wood perches. I would highly recommend this type of bird perch. The uneven surfaces of the Manzanita perch mimic your bird's natural environment. They are also great for building strong feet and leg muscles.

Here are a few sites to look at in regards to Manzanita perches.

What size cage should I buy for my budgies?

Even though budgies are quite small, they are very active and need space to fly around and exercise. Budgies need a minimum cage size of 18"x18"x24". Here is a sizing chart that should answer any questions regarding bird species and cage size, along with particular suggested brands of cages to buy.
