This tutorial will show you how to check your Smeg element and how to replace your Smeg cooker element.
Here are the 3 main faults to look for in your oven or cooker that is not heating

  1. Your oven will not work until the clock/timer has been re-set after replacing an oven element or tripping the electrical supply. Consult your Smeg manual.
  2. If your Oven is not getting hot or heating up it could be a faulty element, if the fan in the oven is running and the thermostat light is on, this will lead us to believe that the element has gone faulty. With grills the thermostat light should come on there should be heat, if not then this could be the grill element or the thermostat.
  3. When you turn the oven on, the household electrical supply trips on the Rcd (this is the earth trip in the fuse board sometimes called the breaker tripping) your fan oven element has gone to earth and needs replacing.

Why has main oven stopped working?

The thermal fuse has shorted out, it is in the back of the oven. It went over temp and the fuse blew, you need the thermal fuse and an oven sensor

Kenmore oven 317b6034

It sounds like the heating element is faulty. If it has a short, it will have a damaged place. A short causes a build up of amps until it can't take anymore and then a action will happen like a fuse blowing, which it the noise you hear. You can get replacement elements on Amazon fairly cheap. To fix, unplug the stove. Lift and tug on the element to pull it out of the socket. It is usually easy.

Oven light blew and now no power to the oven.

If you are not knowledgable in electricity, call for service.
This is an electrical short at the light, I have seen this before.
The wiring for the light has grounded to the oven. This causes the main fuse to blow. You will need to fix the short first. Then reset the main fuse/replace.
In the case of the wall oven, you may have to remove the oven to fix it properly. Depending on the model and where the short is.

1984 stove, fuses located on the top of stove/ 30amp keeps blowin

It sounds like the element has a short in it. unplug the range, and take the element out and inspect if for burn marks. check the wires going to the element to make sure they have not shorted.

Oven does not work,

Usually the problem is the heating element. This is easy to check and usually inexpensive. There is a video at http://appliancehelponline.com/ovenelementvideo.html that will walk you thru testing and replacing. It may be a different model but the testing and replacement will be the same. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations of your specific model. All parts come with installation instructions. Not all models are available.
If the element checks good it probally blew the relay on the main control board you will know this if you have no power to the element.

Frigidaire gallery stove, oven not working,

Morison,
The same thing happened to me about a week ago. I was preheating our electric oven, heard a very loud bang/pop. Checked and the oven had PF (power failure) I went downstairs and the breaker was tripped. Came back upstairs and to look at stove, the burners are working fine so I continued to preheat oven after a half an hour the oven was only slightly warm. Did you ever find out what was wrong?

Element blew in oven; now stove doesn't work....

Sounds like the loose oven element caused a short circuit, which may have fried a wire inside the range. Or, it may have tripped the circuit breaker (or blown the fuse) for the range circuit. Check your electrical panel. If the circuit is open, don't reset it until you've removed the remnants of the oven element.
