The eye that reads the discs has gone off of its track. you need to take the casing off and just use plyers or even your hands to push the piece back in place. After putting the eye in place, you should be able to easily push it back and forth on the tracks.

Installation of a new top spray arm

should only be a little plastic push in clip facing down towards the dw in the middle of that spray arm. should be able to pop it out. you may need to take the supply tube off the back so you can get a good look at it
