Although there is some overlap, the food you give your pet bird may not be exactly the same as the food eaten by birds in the wild. Here is a link to a recipe for a wild bird treat on the National Geographic site, so you can be sure it's appropriate for wild birds.

Whats a good name for a pet bird

Depending upon the breed, Peep for a small bird that peeps a lot or Squawk for a large, noisy bird. But any name will do as long as it recognizes it as their name and respond to it.

What are backyard birds?

Backyard birds are birds who visit your backyard. Which birds visit your backyard depends on where you live, the environment, and what foods may be available. Some birds will eat from feeders while, others only eat from the ground or from fruit/flower trees/bushes.

Several years ago, I created a wild bird garden for my mother in S. Florida. I have 20+ feeders, 3 water fountains, and a few trees/plants including, mango tree, hibiscus, berries, and more. We are visited daily by dozens of Monk parakeets aka Quaker Parrots, Blue Crown Parrots, Blue Jays, Cardinals, Doves, Cardinals, and more!

I can answer most questions about backyard birding (i.e.; foods, types of birds) for anyone interested in this hobby!

If I want to put out bird seed as a treat for the birds, how do I hang it? I don't want to use a table, I want to hang it from the trees.

There are recipes for homemade bird seed treats that involve suet or some other sticking agent that keeps it together so you can hang it in a lump. But I came across a very cute web posting with a recipe for a bird seed treat that is heart shaped! Check out this link http://kids.nationalgeographic.com/kids/activities/crafts/wild-bird-treat/
