Clicking sound is the contactor engaging to start the outside unit. Check for a burnt off wire at the contactor. For some reason you are not getting power to the outside unit. If you find a burnt off wire shut off all power to it then remake the connection at the point of the circuit break.

Look at the contactor on the condensing unit, remove the low voltage wires to the contactor and turn on the system. If the low voltage fuse doesn't blow, replace the contactor.

I have a Goodman GMVM970603BN Furnace and GSXC160361 AC unit. My ComfortNet thermostat suddenly stopped displaying outside temperature. Everything still operates fine.

When your thermostat was installed, a small sensor with transmitter was placed somewhere outside of your house, (Mine was placed under the house, zip tied to a floor joist). You need to find the sensor (about the size of a zippo lighter), open it, and replace the battery and put it back where it was.

Goodman heat pump set at 73 when starts the outside unit does not run no fan or nothing .It is 46 here outside today. Should the outside fan unit be running ?? When it starts

In general the answer is yes. But no fan and no compressor points to a problem. Is the house heating using the auxiliary heat then?

I have Goodman HVAC system and it stopped cooling. The fan motor is running and is throwing out hot air. I called a tech and he says the compressor is weak and freon is leaking in coil upstairs.

compressors dont go weak either valves are failing -or unit motor failing --and if have leak will need fixing and depending on where and why leaking not cheap --get 2nd opinion

Loose thermostat wire outside at condensor. Will not turn off when inside unit is off. If you wiggle thermostat wire or tap on housing it cuts off. What next?

That does not sound like a thermostat wire but rather a sticking .contactor If your unit runs after the thermostat shuts off and you tap the unit and it shuts off the contactor is sticking and needs to be replaced.

My air conditioner doen't start. I have a goodman air cond.

Check to make sure that the power is on to the outdoor unit and the furnce. Check breakers and fuses. There may also be a disconnect outside located by the condenser. It is probably a gray box, loft the cover and make sure the shitch is on. Otherwise if you turn the thermostat to cool, if the furnace blower comes on and the outdoor unit does not check the following. Turn off poer to outdoor condenser and open up the electrical compartment on the condensing unit outside. There is a round or oval cylinder inside. Its probably silver in color. That is the capacitor. If the top is bulged, its a true sign of a capacitor failure. Take the capacitor out and take it to your local HVAC Wholesaler of contractor. The part should cost you around 15 to 25 dollars. If this does not work, let me know.

House HVAC Not Blowing

If the outside unit is running and the inside unit is not, probably a problem with the fan motor itself or its capacitor. If you have to have someone repair or replace the fan $200-$250 with parts, a capacitor for a service call and part $100 or so. Check it yourself first to see if there is anything obvious broken wire, hot connection, etc if you feel safe doing that. Turn the power off first. There is also a chance the thermostat could be the problem. Have you tried running the fan on the thermostat "fan on" setting?

Goodman a/c works, heater will work fine then fan will stop

you have a circuit board acting up. Try keeping the fan in the "On" position. It will keep the blower on all the time but it may work. There is a built-in delay not allowing the unit to come on after you reset it with the thermostat, wait three minutes or so to see if it comes back on. I still suspect a bad circuit board.

Goodman unit freezing outside the unit

Its not the thermostat.

The things that can cause this problem are lack of or poor airflow over the Evaporator coil. Or a low system charge. Or quite possibly a restriction in the line on the low side. When they replaced the compressor did they purge the line set with nitrogen and pull a deep vaccum? This is imperative when replacing a condensing unit to ensure that no residual particles are left in the line set to create a restriction.
