Suddenly, the ice maker dispenser stopped working. The ice maker continues to make ice and the water dispenser can be coaxed into dispensing water. Neither crushed nor cubed ice is dispensed under any circumstances. I am thinking it's the control panel/computer board behind it, but I'm not sure.
I have a Lg French Door bottom freezer Model LFD22860S and my water dispenser stopped working .
There should be a plastice hinge cover on the left top hinge on freezer door. Take it off and press the plug together firmly. Try that and let me know, Sea Breeze

You may not need to replace the solenoid. If you hear the hum, and not a loud click and don't see then rod move, it may be frozen with ice. Test it manually with your hand, it should be free to move up and down. If not, then it is frozen with ice. Remove the ice dispenser and let it thaw and dry out. You should then be able to move to rod and it will work fine, at least until it freezes again. Anyone know how to prevent it from freezing up? Its a continual problem for me
Water dispensing solenoid is bad. You need to replace the solenoid valve. This typically is independent of the ice maker.

I have a GE TFX25ppbaaa refrigerator. The ice maker corkscrew motor would run and provide crushed ice only. The corkscrew motor would not run when the switch was moved to the cubed ice ( half moon) setting.
I replaced the large Light/ water/ crushed ice/cubed ice switch , ( product service number GEH WR55X129 ) ( part number GE 162D6372 PO17 )and it fixed the problem. Cost was about $43.00.

You have a solenoid switch which switches the dispenser back and forth from crushed to cube. It could be stuck or not working or the parts connecting it could be disconnected or broken. You will have to observe to see if any parts are moving and if any noise is coming from the solenoid
Hello Jim czyryca - From what you are describing if the ice maker is not making ice but is dispensing water, sounds like the refrigerator has a frozen water line, faulty ice maker valve or bad component that sends power to the ice maker valve when needed. The ice maker cycles internally to call for water so I strongly suggest contacting a professional to move forward accurately to assist with the repairs.

More symptoms showed up. The light that illuminates the dispenser area is dimmer than usual. When I push the dispenser lever (for water or ice) the fan and compressor shut off. Sometimes accompanied by clunking noises when it starts back up.
I called GE and asked about a recall on the control board. Got nowhere. The representative pointed me to the public website and said there's no recall on my model.
