Maytag Neptune stops during rinse cycles

Each time my washing machine fills for a rinse cycle, it shuts itself off without spinning or draining. I have to monitor the machine and hit "start" 3 (additional) times to complete the loads. 1 service rep thinks it's the water valve (lots of $$ to replace). Any other ideas?

We have the same problem. When the hit hits the rinse cycle it stops and the door can be opened. Inside it appears that the water level is correct. It does this with the rinse cycle on cold. It appears that with the cycle on warm it sometimes stops and sometimes continues.

Pressing the start button starts the washing machine up with no problems till it hits the next rinse cycle.

I have not tried cleaning the screens yet...will post if that solution works though as stated earlier it does appear that the water gets in- maybe not enough?

Cleaning the screen seems to have worked. I used compressed air at about 100 psi to do the job.

Thank you to "GUEST" !!

I think the cold side of your water valve is stopped up at the screen. Just take your hose off at the machine and get the crud off the screen in the valve. It only does it in rinse because you have cold rinses. When warm water comes in, it will fill just fine because the hot water is not blocked

  • Anonymous Dec 22, 2011

Cleaning the screens worked for me, too. The water hoses have two screens. One at the faucet side, and one at the washer side. The washer side of my hose was pretty gunked up. I used a spray bottle with water to rinse it clean, and the washer works fine again.

Model MAH 7800 drain pump will not run, door locks, tub spins, water drains by gravity

Well your drain pump needs attention for sure. There could be an object lodged against propellers or it may need to be relaced. Try unplugging the connector that goes to the pump and plugging back in. Also try tapping the the motor part of the drain assembly while in spin cycle before replacing. Good luck.

Hello I have a Maytag Washer Model A512 The machine goes through a regular cycle OK - However, it DOES drains the water out during the rinse cycle, but does NOT drain the water out during the spin...

The timer will always advance to the next program if the machine does not fully drain. There is ALWAYS a spin when draining the water out, there is only one pump and one motor. The waterlogged laundry maybe telling the timer that there is still water in the tub. Put the machine on "Spin" and cheat the lid switch into thinking that the lid is closed. Use a clothes peg or wide ended screwdriver and see if there really is a spin....

The wash time continues to increase on every cycle. I have a Maytag Neptune TL Washer.

Thank you my machine model number. The reason I ask is so many folks post non FAV6800A/FAV9800A issues in this forum. This forum doesn’t ask for machine model number and serial number. Here we go.

Does your machine seem to take longer than normal to fill with water?

Does the machine increase the time during the Spin Cycle of the Wash Cycle?

Are there any error codes to the LED display such as dC or uC?

Do you want to work toward a DIY fix? If not maybe we can get a solid feel for the issue that will help you in the decision process to bring in a repair company or replace.

So I can better understand the issue can you start a Quick Wash cycle with Soil and Spin settings set to lowest setting and if you could place a couple of bath towels in the wash basket for a load.

I want to see if the machine will go thru the Wash, Rinse and Spin cycle within the 27 to 29 min time of a Quick Wash cycle. I want to see if the machine is increasing Washer Cycle time in the Spin Cycle of the Wash Cycle.

You should enter the Rinse Cycle at the 20 min mark on the LED display.

You should enter the Spin Cycle at the 10 min mark on the LED display.

Watch the cycle and see if you have similar times as I do. Let me know if the washer has any off balance issues as it enters into the Spin Cycle…..Rich

Maytag neptune stops in mid cycle

It sounds like your drain pump is going. Neptunes are suppose to neqarly dry the clothes with how fast it spins. A poor drain pump/motor, could cause this to be less effective. There could also be something in the drain lines. I would check that before you pay money on a pump though.

Cold water will not stop filling during rinse

while the unit is filling in the warm cycle. reach behind and shut off the hot water tap.I bet the water flow stops filling, if so, you would need to change the inlet valve on the machine. You see, in warm, if the cold is not filling, you still hear the hot filling and the unit will advance. The rinse cycles are mostly "cold" only. if the valve is not opening it will not allow it to advance from the rinse section on the board.

Good luck!

Shuts itself off before each Rinse or spin cycle.

Maybe your spin or rinse cycle button is in the off mode. Refer to your user's manual, if you hv one.
