Not too bad a job. remove plastic clamp holding seal to cabinet and peel off the cabinet.push downwards on the seal close to the tub and the seal will come off - its just held by a spring round the periphery. to fit new seal lubricate the slot which fits over the tub with washing-up fluid - essential! starting at the top, press the seal so the flange of the tub enters the slot on the seal. work your way round the using thumbs to force the slot on the tub flange - easy when you have done it once but hard the first time. when slot is on the flange all way round, fit the spring which holds it on.the spring goes into a slot on the outside of the seal. this is quite difficult and you may need another pair of hands. fit the outside of the seal to the cabinet - this is easy and fit the plastic clamping ring. test for leaks before using in earnest. use rinse to test as the water level is higher

IF YOU REMOVE THE SEAL UNLESS YOU ARE AN ENGINEER YOU WILL FIND IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO REFIT IT, TO CLEAN OUT THE SLUDGE USE A PLASTIC SCOURING PAD LIKE THE ONES USED FOR CLEANING DISHES. IFTHE SEAL IS BLACK THIS CANNOT BE CLEANED IT IS A CHEMICAL REACTION TO DETERGENTS ETC BUT IS NOT HARMFUL TO ITEMS BEING WASHED HOPE THIS WILL HELP.

SOURCE: Zanussi washing machine door seal removal

This is quite tricky, first take off the retaining ring on the front door port, remove the seal from this rim. The back of the seal is held by a spring band. the best way to remove it is to get a good grip on the seal at the top then lift and pull (thats the easy bit), to put the new one on i always lubricate the recess on the seal with washing-up liquid and feed the seal on from the bottom with one hand whilst following it around with the other hand to stop it coming off. Once it is fully on it can then be rotated easily into the correct position. Getting the spring back on will require an extra pair of hands for obvious reasons.

Good luck with it and keep the swear box handy lol.

SOURCE: change the door seal

Not sure if its the same type but I just changed the door seal on a Zanussi ZWF1221W washing machine. It was a lot easier than I was expecting but this way does take a bit longer. Before starting disconnect the mains and water supply and drain hose. If possible move the washing machine out so you can get around it.
First I used a small flat head screwdriver to open the teeth on the outer door seal clamp that holds the seal in place. The old seal then peels off the front of the machine. You can continue the process without taking the front of the washing machine off but it is much, much easier to take it off if you can.
To remove the front panel unscrew the two bolts at the top corners of the back panel and slide the top cover off towards the back and lift it off. Then remove the two bolts that attach the plastic control panel to the front of the machine (either end of the top, front edge), remove the detergent dispenser drawer (you need to push down on a lever at the back) and take the screw out of the front of the machine (revealed when you take out the detergent drawer). Then carefully remove the control panel and the two bolts that hold the front panel on.
Then (very carefully as washing machines are heavy) lie the machine on its back and remove the three screws from the bottom that hold the front panel on. Then unplug the cables on the inside of the front panel that operate the door lock (its a plug with a plastic cover - just pull it out but don't pull the wires!).
Now you can lift the front panel off which is the key to making this job really easy as you're not trying to fit the new seal through the door which makes it really tight.
With the machine still on its back find the spring that stretches all around the seal to hold it on the drum and remove using a flat head screwdriver to pull it out of its groove. You can now pull the old seal off.
It's a good idea to put some fabric softener or liquid detergent around the edge of the new seal to make it easier to fit on to the drum at this point.
Find the arrow that points to the top and starting here attach the groove of the new seal to the plastic drum all the way around. You have to press quite hard but you can tell when its properly attached to the drum. Once this is done replace the spring so it sits in a groove on the seal holding it to the drum.
Now replace the front of the panel of the machine by doing the reverse of all the earlier steps (remember to reattach the door lock) and stand it back up on its feet (careful it's heavy). You can now replace the top panel of the machine (slide it on and replace the two screws).
With the washing machine back upright you can attach the front of the seal to the door opening of the front panel (the arrow should be pointing upwards). Then you can reattach the clamp that holds the seal around the door opening and then secure the teeth on the clamp so it's tight (I don't know if it matters where around the seal the clamp goes but mine's at about 7 o'clock).
Now all you need to do is reattach the drain hose, water supply and mains and test it doesn't leak. A rinse cycle uses the most water apparently so it might be worth using that.
Hope this was useful.

Follow these steps to replace your door seal:

For all Free appliance repair videos visit our VIDEO TUTORIALS
Disconnect all power to the machine first!!

1 Locate the outer clamp band securing the seal to the door rim on the washing machine and examine it carefully for holes or tears. Many can be prised off with a flat-bladed screwdriver they have a spring system holding them, but some have a tensioning arrangement that has to be loosened.
2 After removing the outer clamp band, locate the inner one securing the seal to the drum and establish how this is secured. It may be necessary to loosen a clip, or you may be able to prise the band off with a flat-bladed screwdriver. Some are like very large Jubilee clips that you have to undo usually from the top.
3 Once the clamp bands have been removed, use both hands to pull the seal away from the inner drum rim. Some machines have a water spout holes that will have to be lined up. Others have a drain holes.
4 Rubbing a drop of washing up liquid into the groove on the door seal/gasket that locates on the drum makes fitting the new seal easier.
5 the new washing machine door seal should be fitted by locating the drain holes at the bottom of the seal first then push it on with both hands working opposite directions towards the top. This is quite hard if you have never done it before.
6 refit the inner band remembering this must be tensioned correctly for it to be water tight.
7 now fit the outer band and the test the machine for any leaks,

Hello,
I hope you have small hands, and you are pretty handy with them cos these seals are tricky if its your first.
First remove the nylon clip around the front of seal it will pull off from bottom.then release outer rubber, then you have to just get your hand or fingers to pull at inner rubber, there is a spring around inner rubber lip but to make things awkward there is also a concrete counterweight around this.Once you have old seal out get new one and wipe some fairy liquid around inner lip to refit make sure pointy arrow is at the top. This is the tricky bit and hard to explain but you can only do it by feel and keep trying to get a part of inner lip over casing lip once it starts it can go easy or hard you may have to try a couple of times until you can feel it is on all the way round.Once on the spring has to be fitted its also tricky, start by door switch and put a long screwdriver thru. hole for door catch try to hold with knee or get help.Work it around keep screwdriver in until spring is nearly on keep hand on spring then gently try to remove screwdriver make sure spring on fully, now fit outer seal lip and fit nylon clamp. You may find it easier to tilt machine back slighty.I do this for a living and it can go easy or hard.Best of luck.

Washing machine wont start get E40 come up

This is normally due to the door lock failing.
If you remove the clamp holding the door seal on the front.
Then peel the seal back and remove the 2 screws holding the door lock on.

You can change the lock from there and hopefully this will sort the problem out.
However if still doing the same after changing the lock then the control board will be faulty. But 9 times out of 10 for this fault its the door lock thats the problem

Water is leaking from the door seal I need to

Before you remove the door, be certain the bottom seal is not folded forward so that it does not seal. I fixed mine by opening the door partway and running my finger along the bottom, pressing the seal back in. Change door seal on wjs 1265w

Hi, Your new door seal will have a double lip seal? If you use a small amount of washing up liquid on the lip of the double seal this will then allow you to ease the door seal on really easy. The spring then goes on the outer part of the seal in the groove to hold it onto the tub. Becareful and make sure you put the door seal on the right way up or you will not be happy with the result! TORN CLOTHES!
Good luck...
