SOURCE: Problem with F470 Fine pix camera

sounds like the keypad ribbon has either popped out of it's socket or, and this would be the common fault, the ribbon has broken. In which case fuji will be your only way to fix and get it serviced at the same time. last quote I recieved was £80.
source a donor camera on ebay for the cheaper option

SOURCE: Fujifilm E900 camera zoom does not function!

If the shutter and Zoom function both do not operate, you need to send the camera to an authorised repair center. Was the camerra exposed to salt/sea air? If so, you can take a soft rag and gently wipe around the lens area where it meets the body, remove the battery, reinstall the battery and try it. If not, send it in.

SOURCE: a210 zoom error

When you first turn the camera on, grab the lens, pull on it slightly. Turn the camera off and try it again. If it doesn"t work the first time , pull on the lens slightly again. It worked on mine

SOURCE: Camera won't focus when using optical zoom

I had same problem. Found that doing a complete reset fixed it. Go into setup and at end there is a factory reset. If not working after that would suspect your ccd sensor is on way out. They should last 5-7 yrs. Be cheaper to get another cam with way prices have come down

SOURCE: zoom, Menu/OK, up, left, right all don't work but

Try moving down, and then moving up. Similarly, try moving the opposing directions for left and right. If there is no way to go in a certain direction, on a certain screen, it will appear that the button isn't working. I think you can solve it now. I have faith in you.

Canon S3 is will not zoom, buttons will not work, and when viewing the photos, it zooms through them quickly and will not stop!

It sounds as though it may need to be serviced. If you do need to get it serviced, here's the place: www.camerasandparts.com They just service the Canons and nothing else. They do excellent work and they are not much at all in terms of cost. You may want to try emailing them and explain the problem, I'm sure they've seen it before. Good luck with it.

May be you inserted a memory card formatted with your PC. Format the memory card using the Format function in the camera menu. Format function can be found in the setup menu of the camera.
If this does not work, try replacing the memory card.

The issue lies with the lens assembly electronics and/or motor. If possible try another lens. If that one works it is the lens. If it doesn't, it might be the switch control for the zoom action.

Once u zoom into the picture that is very far away how do u keep the picture zoomed in after u snap the shot ...

Once you've framed your shot (zoomed in) and taken the picture. That's it, the picture you've taken is the one in your view finder, and that's the way its kept.

However, if you want to zoom in further, you can using the software you were provided with your camera, you can, you can also zoom in using your camera menu. Once happy you can then save the edited picture. But this time its a digital zoom and it will reduce the resolution. The picture won't look quite as fine. It will be a balance between picture quality and the extent you want to zoom in.

Auto zooming on power up, intermittent problem

Possibly a intermittent connection in the control buttons or the ZIF (Zero Insertion Force) connector from the controls to the main PCB.
Take it in for servicing, they will do a trial by substitution (swap out control) and lubricate the connector.
There isn't really anything you can do to fix with this sort of problem.

Cheers.
