N95 8GB phone barred from making/recieving calls and sending/recieving sms/mms

Got phone form a relative as a present, he said he bought it from someone somewhere. Recognises my SIM card but does not let me do a thing. So obviously, I'm not using said phone right now. Would you be able to send me the security code something via email? thanx

Hi,
This is a common problem. But there is a solution for this problem.
go to Messaging. Then hit Options. Scroll down to settings.
Hit text message. Options - Then "Message Centres".
Hit the Edit button and the following number should come up:

+47973100973
Save it and try sending messages. If again the same problem exist then call up your customer care who provides the services of your phone like Airtel, Reliance etc.. Ask the message center number and follow the above steps and save that service center number. Hopefully it should work. Thank you......

Goto settings there you will see a option "Restore to factory settings" .Try it and let me know if this fix the issue.

You need to back everything up onto a memory card or onto Nokia PC Suite and do a reset by pressing *#7780#. I had exactly the same problem and that solved it.

Oops this doesn't sound good. Try following (hard reset) : push and hold the green button and 3 button and while holding them push power button until it restarts. If this doesn't help then back to the shop for replacement.

make sure you have the correct usb cable which you looks like to correct one, check make sure there is no damage to the cable and/or the phone

If you do not have at least 2 steady bars of reception strength, text messages or pic messages could fail sometimes. If these fail no matter what signal strength, you should contact your phone provider (StraightTalk).

How to open MMS

You need to configure the settings for mms. You can call your service provider and ask them to send you the configuration settings via SMS, once you have the settings saved in the phone thats the time that you can open the MMS that you recieved.

You just can't send pictures in a SMS, but if your phone supports sending photos it should send the message as MMS. Normally, a phone that supports MMS should automatically stick to MMS writing mode when attaching a file and it should also inform you about that. But if you aren't sure how much that would cost to send a MMS at your provider, it would be good for you you would look that up first.

Received mms from 09478835873 but i can't retrieve it

MMS is one of the feature of the mobile service that you have. You are using smart for your mobile service,right?
There are settings on the phone that should be taken cared of for you to have access with other services. MMS is one of them. Once MMS setting is not yet set on your phone,once someone sent you MMS, you will not be able to retrieve it nor open it for your MMS settings were not yet installed,it seems not activated.
You need to call smart for them to send you the settings. Once you recieved the settings via sms,just save it. For you to check if its working for sending and recieving,just send an MMS to your own number.

How to bar my incoming call

just go to settings then select security settings... then select call barring services...select incoming calls only.. take note that when you select incoming calls and barred it you cannot also recieved sms or mms... ok... then activate it and it will ask for barring password.. a 4 digit password.. just put the default password 1234... ok... enjoy...

Hi,am sure it's related to your sim card (network), not your samsung cell phone. In most cases, regarding mms messages, the problem is from the Service Operator. Have you tried the sim card on another phone? If not, remove the sim card, insert it on another phone and try sending a message from another mobile to you number, or you can do it in vise versa by inserting another sim card on your mobile.

If you can't receive mms messages even it's inserted on another handset, then you need to call the customer care of your Network Operator and tell them your problem, they will help you fix it immediately.

You can check the message center number, but I don't think it's very much important in your case, well, if you wanna try, just check the text message settings and verify that the message center number (which is currently in use) is the same number which is on another phone with the same network (the other sim should be of the same network in your area). If it's different, make the changes and save the settings. Also disable the "Receive Via" or similar settings.. (I can't recollect the exact settings as i don't have the same model with me, please excuse me for this.).

if the same sim card doesn't receive mms messages using another handset, don't bother to change the settings or to make any changes with it, first call the customer care and verify from them, you may make mistakes instead of fixing it.

On 02 pay n go! but cant send or recieve mms picture messages!

last time i had to do this i rang up my service provider eg (optus or telstra etc) n tell them u want to enable MMS settings...they'll ask u what modle phone u have etc then they should sms a link to ur phone...u open it and save it and u should be able to send mms...i think their called WAP settings

I can recieve text messages, but i am unable to send text message

go to settings ---> call barring ---> then click on Data calls ----> cancel .

this should enable sms send and recieve.
