Horizontal and vertical just refers to the orientation of the spindle, each has their advantages and disadvantage, the vertical mill is more for standing mechanists and doing more detailed work while the horizontal are designed for cutting heavy pieces.

Pop the hood and look straight down on the top of the light, behind the light there should be a screw hole (one round and one oblong) to the left and the right. You'll need a torx driver (I believe a T15) to adjust these. The round hole is for vertical adjustment and the oblong is for horizontal

Yes. The direction (vertical/horizontal) is something worth taking into consideration. Horizontal wires allow your birds to climb, which they thoroughly enjoy. On the other hand, vertical bars are much easier to clean. My personal recommendation is to find a cage where two sides have vertical bars and the others have horizontal ones. This way you are satisfying both the birds and your own time.

Hi, I purchased the same model in November 2009. About 2 weeks ago a single horizontal line appeared. Each day another appeared until today when the video went out. Now it displays bands of vertical colored lines like a pastel colored rainbow. Did you find a solution to the problem?

If you get the black bar and it is vertical, not horizontal and it is on every input, your panel has failed. It is more economical to buy new than replace the panel. Try a Sony. Mine rocks.
