SOURCE: husqvarna 51 died and wont restart
hi
if you have a good compression,a strong enough blue spark and carburetion for the fuel air mixture try priming the engine(put small amount of gas in the spark plug hole)then start the engine. If the engine runs only the gas you put inside the cilinder there is a carburetion problem to find and fix.

Check the muffler for plugging. Does the primer bulb fill with fuel when pumped several times. If it takes a lot of pumps to pull fuel, replace the fuel filter or maybe the primer bulb if it appears to be hard or cracked. #4--reset fuel jet 1-1/2 turns? You say further on that the H and L jet needles have not been moved. These two jets are the only adjustable fuel control there is. Did you mean the idle speed screw? Did you get a snappy blue spark at the plug when you checked it? The caps on the two tanks are usually not directly vented--there are vents inserted into the tank casting. Try spraying some starting fluid into the plug hole, install the plug and pull through. If pops several times, concentrate on the fuel system. When cleaning the carburetor, you should remove the two jet needles to wash out those cavities. Spray carburetor cleaner is a better cleaning agent for carburetors than lacquer thinner. The lower chamber diaphragm directly controls fuel within the carburetor and it must be flexible and no holes! Go to: http:// www.drystacked.com for some good carburetor theory for 2-strokes. Hope some of this helps!

Make sure the muffler has not become plugged. Check the flywheel key as it may have sheared off for some reason causing the timing to be off, yet still generate sparks. Are the sparks blue and snappy? If not, check the ignition module gap to the flywheel magnets--use a thin business card for a gauge. A wide gap can cause weak spark. Hope this gets you running again!

Try a new spark plug and make sure gap is .030.and check the air clener and make sure it is not plugged up.you can clean it with soap and water then dry it out.if this doe,s not work you have a carb problem.

On the carburetor got two screws to adjust the carburetor. The first is to adjust the saw when working at high speeds. Another is when running at low revs. It is best to either put back for about 1.5 cycle of the maximum of the end of the rotation of the screws. If then the saw starts, then you can adjust it fine at higher revs (H), then at low (L). Have can be minimum screw that stops the chain.
