The scanner does not automatically advance the slide in the tray. This function became inoperative after a very difficult to remove slide had jammed in the scanning area. When the advance slide button on the scanner (or in the software) is pressed, the scanner performs the removing of the old slide, but the aluminum arm does not move to the left far enough to advance to the next slide in the tray. It appears that the "little lever" below the aluminum arm might have been damaged. The orange triangular advance/reverse advance seems to be all right.

The problem is likely to be a failure of the ribbon cable between the scanning head PCB and the mother board. This is a 28 pin cable, the cable run is poor, the type of cable is IMHO not the best for this application and is too short. The continuous flexing of this cable as the the scanner scans results in fractures of the copper. Replacement of the cable is required.
