SOURCE: My MC9090 does not want

Hello, Raymond.

From FixYa Support:

To be certain that you set the static address correctly, the IP is set within the wireless profile.

On the radio icon in the task bar, select Wireless Profiles. This box then holds all your wireless profiles, including the default Motorola "out of box". Hold down the stylus on the screen and select "Add New" follow the prompts. When you get to IP Address from the pull down menu select static and then next this will take you to another screen where you can add your details.

Now you want to make them persist through either a cold boot or when the terminal has been left without a battery for a substantial amount of time.

This can be done 2 ways. When the profile has been set up highlight it by holding down the stylus on it and from the menu select export. This saves the registry key to the Application folder; a folder which persist through a cold boot. When it does cold boot it takes all the registry keys from the Application folder and builds 1 complete key.

The other way is to close the WLAN profile and selection options, from the pull down menu select export and save all profiles.

Hope this helps.

I got a problem in connecting my samsung galaxy GT-7500 to sitecom extender 300N .. I have tried to change the IP address but it doesn't work with me . Any help plz?

Which modes are you trying to use this Sitecom? If you have the Sitecom as your Access Point (AP Mode), then you would need a LAN connection to your internet gateway (DSL, Cable Modem, etc). I didn't see any LAN hook up so I assume you are trying to use it as a wireless repeater. So you need to configure the unit differently. The 3rd mode is called Bridge mode. Again, you need to have a LAN hook up to your local network with a router or network switch.
Because your Tablet is connecting to the Sitecom okay, which mean that you either have the Sitecom setting for AP mode or Bridge mode. And the reason it didn't give you access to internet because there is no internet gateway connection to the Sitecom (LAN). I hope this answer your question (or confuse you totally).

Can't ping internal page

It may be that the WAP was set-up to use a different subnet from the default.

Check the IP address that is assigned to the computer that is connected to the router and substitute the first 3 octets (192.168.10 is the default) with what your computer reports. So, if your computer has an IP address of 192.168.22.32, then use 192.168.22.100 instead.

If that doesn't work, you will probably have to do a factory reset on the device to get it to use the default address.

Hi I have a AP 1131A K9. I was trying to reset the password of that. At the time of doing that, the boot file got erased. Now after booting up, it automatically comes into AP: mode. And it is showing...

On console you will see..AP: Step 1.Type format flash: on the AP and then hit enter Step 2. Enter the set command to assign an IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway tothe access point. Your entries should look like this example: bridge: set IP_ADDR 192.168.133.160bridge: set NETMASK 255.255.255.0bridge: set DEFAULT_ROUTER 192.168.133.1Note:-The system you are using must have tftpserver recomend by Cisco. You can download it from link givenbelow:http://tftpd32.jounin.net Also load the IOS file in the tftp server. Before step3.Step 3.Enter the tftp_init command to prepare the access point for TFTPbridge:tftp_initStep 4. Enter the tar command to load and inflate the new image from your TFTPserver. The command must include this information: .the -xtract option, which inflates theimage when it is loaded .the IP address of your TFTP server .the directory on the TFTPserver that contains the image .the name of the image .the destination for the image (theaccess point Flash) Your entry might look like this example: bridge: tar -xtracttftp://192.168.130.222/images/c1310-k9w7-tar.122_15.JA1 flash:In the meantime if you needassistance please feel free to contact me at any time.

I want to factory reset my nortel AP 7220, how do I reset? What would be default IP after reset?

There is probably a reset button somewhere on the device, it is probably a small pinhole that you put a paper-clip into the reset.
If it has its own http web page, there is likely a reset to factory defualts option.

The ip of the computer connecting to it should not change.
On a computer connected to it, open cmd start>run then type in cmd, and type 'ipconfig'.
It will display details about your connection. Where it says 'default gateway' is the ip of the device.
You could try to put the ip in your browser and see if the device has a web page.

AP loses IP

What exactly do you mean by AP loses IP?

Are you saying the AP access point is no more able to get IP from DHCP server?

or the AP is no more able to provide IP to the connecting users?

I'm trying to connect the ecb3500 as an AP Router to get wireless access from my cable modem. THe old LinkSys worked fine, although it has low power, but the ecb is unable to connect (status of connection...

ECB3500 Can I downgrade firmware safely with this product?Yes. I cannot get into the device from my computer. What is the basic setting check?

- Make sure you are directly connected to the unit.
- Do not have a switch or router in between and do not connect wirelessly.
- Make sure your power injector/adapter is on, power is going to the unit, and the "network" side is going to your computer.
- Make sure your computer is set to a static IP address of 192.168.1.10.
- Type in 192.168.1.1 using Internet Explorer.

How to change the IP Address?

The default IP address is 192.168.1.1. This IP address is typically in conflict with many routers out in the market. You will need to change the IP address manually to an IP address that is different but part of the same network. This means if your router IP address is 192.168.1.1, you should change the device to 192.168.1.2, for example. We recommend you change the IP address before other settings. You change your IP address in the "LAN" section in the GUI.

How do I reset the device?

Locate the reset button next to the CAT5 (RJ45) connection. Press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds and then let go. You should see your 10/100 LAN connection at your computer go away and then come back. That will confirm a reset has occurred. The unit settings should all be back to default including its IP address of 192.168.1.1.

How do I set up the device under Apple MAC OS X environment?

I cannot connect or maintain a log in to the device.

We recommend using internet explorer with at least IE7 or higher. Make sure you have latest version of Java script.

What distance in kilometers (km) should I set the device to?

Default is 1km. If you are setting up long distance point to point links, the time it takes the radio wave to get there needs to be considered for proper handshaking (ACK response). This window should be accurate within 5 kilometers. In other words if you have a 5 kilometer link, ideally you should set it to 5km, but a setting of 1km to 10km should keep you in an acceptable window. For short distances, keep this to 1km.

What is a point-to-point link setup? One unit would need to be in AP mode while the other in CB mode. The AP should be connected directly to the routers LAN port, and the other will be in Client Bridge Mode linking back to the AP. The Client side will then provide a WIRED connection for users of the remote location. You can choose to connect this wired connection to just one PC, or to a switch, hub, or another wireless access point for multiple users at the remote location. What is a Client Bridge (CB) Mode?

A client connects to an access point. Your laptop is a client. A bridge is something that connects two "wired" networks together. A client bridge therefore is a radio that wirelessly bridges two networks. The Ethernet port of the 2610 in CB mode provides the wired connection to the remote location. This Ethernet port can directly connect to a single PC, a hub, a switch, or another router.

What is considered a "good" signal? The signal meter is not available in AP mode. In CB mode, under connection status, a signal of -74dbm or better is a good signal. It's important to understand which direction numerically is a better signal. Dbm's are referenced to 1 milliwatt. 1mW = 0dbm. A stronger signal would be a positive number and a weak signal would be a very negative number. For example, a -50dbm signal is stronger signal than -92dbm. What is spanning tree protocol?

When there are several possible paths a packet can route to (redundant links for increased reliability for example), a loop can occur (jamming up the network). It is used to prevent these loops.

What is the default gateway? The default gateway is your router's IP address. The default gateway information is not required, but is recommended. What is the default user name and password to log into this device?

Log in name is "admin" and password is "admin" by default.

What is WDS Mode?Stands for Wireless Distribution System. Allows access points to link together and provide repeating. Note however, this repeating comes at a cost of reduced bandwidth. Bandwidth will be reduced by 30-40%, and it is recommended that NO multiple repeating hops be done for this reason. Which antenna connector is the primary antenna? The one closer to the power jack.

WAP54G as AP -- WRE54G no DHCP

I had the same problem. Went through tons of emails and finally twigged onto one that had the solution. Sorry that I do not have the link but I think I know the solution.

The problem is probably in the router. Computers on the network can ping 192.168.1.240 and you can even open the application when you enter the address into your browser, correct? You are only half done.

On your router make sure that the Wireless Distribution Service or WDS is enabled. This is extremely important. You will need to enter the mac address of your WRE54G into the field in your router's advanced settings under WDS. That will connect the two devices together. Just as the WRE54G needs to know the mac address of the router, the router needs to know the mac address of the WRE54G.

I have ver 3 and when the connection was made, both LEDs went blue and the Link Status on the in the browser changed from ------- to the mac address of the router.

Give that a try

Lost contact between PCs connected via AP

Set all the PC's to have a manual IP rather then using the DHCP from the router.
Also set the Gateway and Preferred DNS on the network cards to the routers IP (IE 192.168.0.1)

Losing ip address after skeep mode windows vista

I have a dlink product and the first thing I noticed about it was it was extremely unpredictable until I finally got it to a location where there was plenty of free moving air, and it's quiescent operating temperature could come down about ten or so degrees F. But it was not a problem that timed out with anything the PC was doing. An easy way to find out may be next time it happens, find a way to cool the innerds, (I sucked cool air through it and it would just start working again) If you blow, it may get moisture and warmer air in it. Who knows. What do you have to lose... unless a neighbor sees this activity thru a window!!!
