What software are you using to burn and what type of dvd are you trying to burn.(+), (-), or (RW). Do you have a copy of NERO? http://www.filehippo.com has NERO (I think) try a different then try a different disk. Some where it even said to try defragging the hard drive...It wouldn't hurt. Let me know what happens. Good Luck, Tim

The video in the PVR is not in DVD or Blu ray format. You'll need software to convert the video format on the PVR to DVD first. there are several converters that will do that. Google video to dvd converters.

I am trying to save a DVD + R disc to my lap top so that I can make more copies of it for Family. I get an error message when I try and do it. ''Your recording device does not support writing to DVD media....

The error message implies that your DVD is not capable of writing DVD's, particularly DVD+R disks. Recheck the spec's on the drive; it might write to DVD-R disks, or perhaps it only burns CD's and not DVD's at all.

Error message with software ?

That is usually caused by cheap media. Try a better brand of blank DVD's.

Sony DVD RW DW-31A stopped writing and not recognising CD in tray

are u copying the disc on the fly i mean directly from dvd rom to dvd rw it sometimes generate this error when reading drive stops giving data due to some error and suddenly bcoz of that the writing drive leavve the session un closed and give an error the solution is first copy ur disc on the hard drive and then copy it on another disc on the fly copying is not safe otherwise also try this

pls try to clean the lens of the drive as follows

due to dusty environment and excessive use lens gets dusty and then have problems in reading or writing dvd 's and cd's

open the dvd tray u can see that shiny eye like thing try cleaning th lens gently in round movement with a tissue paper or very soft cloth used to clean lcd screens or cotton bud good quality see if it works , other wise ur DVD drive lens got weak from use now adays service centers are getting tons of them everyday for replacements

u can try that software thing as well but i dont think it will solve ur problem
