First, locate your valet/programming switch. Once you have located the switch, turn the ignition on, press and release said switch then press and hold. Now, while holding the switch, press the lock button on the remote. the vehicle/alarm should respond with a chirp/horn honk. Release the valet switch, turn the ignition off, test the system.

SOURCE: i have a 471t model remote starter, it fires up

Could be one of a couple of things. Tach not programmed properly or wire not connected correctly. Or the immobilizer bypass is not programmed or working properly.

Installed the remote starter and when I attempt to start the vehicle with the remote started pad all I hear is 5 to 7 clicks from the main box and no attempt to start the vehicle

Hi! If your vehicle has an anti-theft system that uses a special key, then your remote starter needs to be set up properly for your articular make and model vehicle. There are a number of ways that remote starters deal with anti-theft systems, so you'll need to check the installation instructions to be sure.

Dei viper python valet hornet boa transmitter programming help

DEI REMOTE PROGRAMMING INSTRUCTIONS
Need a DEI Remote Replacement Now? Try our all New Remote Quick-Find
Not sure what type of Replacement Remote you need?
In order to enter Learn Routine, the Valet/Program push button must be plugged
into the main brain's Blue 2 Pin Port (Look for a small black push button located under
the drivers dash or drivers kick panel somewhere). If you do not have the Valet/Program switch, you may order it at www.lesscoelectronics.com or www.lesscosales.com

1)
Open a door and make sure the dome light is on.

2)
Turn the ignition on to the RUN position or you may also start car.

3)
Within 15 seconds press and release the Valet/Program push button
to select the channel you wish to program. For example, press and release
once for channel 1 (arm/disarm channel).
For Channel 2, press and release twice (trunk release).
For Channel 3, press and release three times (remote start).
(Some DEI systems require different programming for different channels. You
can get specific installation manuals with remote programming instruction)

Press and hold the Valet/Program push button once more. You should get a
confirmation chirp/horn-honk or a flashing LED light (If installed).
If you do not get a chirp/horn-honk the alarm may have a jumper in
the alarm that has the programming feature turned OFF (disabled).

4)
Once the alarm chirps/horn-honks keep holding the Valet/Program push button.

5)
Press the button on the transmitter that you would like to control the selected receiver
channel. A chirp/horn-honk will confirm that the code has been learned. If programming
more than one transmitter repeat step 5. Old transmitter codes will be dropped only
if programming 4 new transmitters.

6)
Once the code(s) are learned, the Valet/Program push button can be released.

Learn Routine will be Exited if:

Ignition is turned off
Door is closed
Valet/Program push button is pressed too many times
More than 15 seconds elapses between steps
One long chirp/horn-honk indicates that Learn Routine has been exited.

How do you reprogram start duration for a longer time

You do realize that there are multiple remote starter manufacturers and, that these multiple manufacturers have different programming methods. However, the 12 minute run time is a default run time for Directed Electronics (Viper, Python, Clifford, Avital, etc) but, that does not mean that it is a DEI product. If it is a DEI product and you wish to change your runtime to 20 minutes, it can only be done with a BITWRITER. The installer should have this. The runtime settings that are optional without the bitwriter are 12, 24 and, 60 minutes for the more expensive units.

I recently installed a python 872 on my 2002 maxima. Now everytime i use the remote start and open the trunk the car shuts off and restarts in about 10 seconds. I had other dei alarms and never had that...

It's possible that the installer has the engine monitoring option programmed for voltage and, the unit sees a drop in voltage when operating the trunk...causing the remote starter to shut down. If so, try programming the unit for tachless instead or, hook up the tach wire.

Hooked up a Viper 5301 in a 2004 Nissan Murano. The problem I'm facing is that the unit is only programming when the vehicle is started and running, instead of programming after turning the ignition on...

It sounds like you have your ignition and starter wires reversed. The remote start programs when the ignition wire sees 12 volts and then loses the 12 volts. If you have the remote starts igniton wire on the trucks starter wire then that is why you can prgram it when you start it only... cause you get 12 volt only when the truck cranks and then loses the 12 volts once it is runnng. You may have the right colors from the remote starter correct but check to see if maybe from DEI they have the wires in the wrong positions.

Hi what tupe of starter i should purches for my car i have santa fe 2002

It really depends on what features you are looking for. I installed Audiovox for 12 years and DEI for 8. I like the DEI much better. The Audiovox always had problems with their remotes and would break down. DEI remotes last much longer and all the options are better on it too. They are the leaders in the field.DEI is the makers of Viper and Python as well as automate.

Dei automate remote starter 552 for manual gear installation

It can be installed, but is not recommended. If the car was left in gear and the auto start activated the car will lurch forward. A friend of mine, who is an installer, had his WRX jump a curb in a parking lot in land in a ditch. BTW, he "never left his car in gear". It only takes once.
