Check the voltage on the battery to see if it is 12 volts or higher. If not, charge battery.

Then check all starting-related electrical connections-- sounds like there is a dirty connection somewhere if the battery is charged.

Please don't jump start your mower and mow with a low battery. This is a very expensive mistake. If the mower is not producing enough charge, then you will have low current going to your electric clutch. It will burn up in short order and you will be buying a new one for a couple hundred bucks--Most definately won't be on warranty.

SOURCE: Briggs and Stratton 22hp v twin OHV smoking badly

First thing to do is pull your dipstick and check for broken or missing O-ring also as you pull it, look to make certain that it was seated properly and all the way locked. If either condition exists, you will be leaking into the crankcase which will cause your symptoms

The engine fuel needs to be primed into the carburator and the choke set.

Testimonial: "thanks for your answer. I was quessing that the suction(prime) was in the throat of the carb a venturi action, but I'll simply prime the fuel to it."

Fuel solenoid doesn't work

You will need a volt meter to check that voltage. When the switch is on, it should be 12VDC or higher, depending on the battery's charge, normal is 13.5VDC with no loads on but is good at 12VDC and even lower as long as it works.

Unplug the leads to the solenoid, insert meter leads into plug from mower (not the one from solenoid), turn on key and if everything else is in the right position, brake set, blade off, you should get voltage to solenoid. Make sure you have good contact with plug terminals, sometimes takes three or four hands or leads with clips on them.

If you don't have a meter, you can use a 12VDC test light, but the cost is about the same on eBay, unless you make your own test light....

22 hp B&S wont start

Disconnect and clean the battery termials and cables then reconnect the cables. Connection could be dirty. If that doesn't work make sure the battery has a full charge over 12v with a volt meter. If you have some jumper cables jump it from another battery.
