If water keeps freezing in the line you need to replace the water valve after you get it melted out again / valve is letting a little water seep into the line and freeze up / larry

Replace the water valve. Shut off the water going to the ref, take off the back panel so you can see where the water goes to the water valve. This valve is usually held on by two screws and has two wires which can be unpluged. If you have water in the door then you will have a double valve and four wires.

This valve is not closing all the way and allows water to drip into your icemaker which will freeze and stop up the water line. Be sure to get this ice out of the water line inside the freezer. A hair dryer works.

Ice maker is not getting water, water dispenser is. there is notheing frozen but the line leading to the ice maker doesn't have any water in it

Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.

Kenmore by Whirlpool sxs water in the door. Ice maker 106.565424

The water control valve for the ice maker side is your most likely reason. If filling ice maker with tap water and allowing to freeze. If it dumps then the water control should fill. if not the valve is not working. Sea Breeze

Kenmore - ice maker won't produce but water in door fine

Most of the times the solenoid ( electric valve that lets water from the line when the ice maker calls for it) leaks and this little water freezes up inside the filling tube for the ice maker , in tnis case the solenoid has to be replaced.

Water is freezing in the supply line for the ice maker

This usually means you have a weeping water valve. The water valve doesn't completely shut down after filling the icemaker. This deposits a staedy flow of water which freezes and accumulates in the tube, eventually blocking it off. You would need to replace the water valve which is located at the rear of the refrigerstor. One othe thing to check would be the water supply to the refrig. If the water dispenser is working fine then that isn't an issue. However, if that is flowing slowly you would need to replace the saddle valve which is tapping into your house water supply.

Ice maker isn't filling with water. Water is on and ice maker is on. It's been humid.

Likely that the water supply tube to the icemaker is frozen. It will be a white rubber tube on the right side of the icemaker. Warm it with a hair dryer, remove it from its aluminum tubing, and make sure there is no ice all the way back to where the supply tube comes from the water valve. After thawing, your icemaker should start working again.

Now..... why did it freeze? Most likely, there is a restricted airflow to the back of the unit, which is need to keep that aluminum supply tube just warm enough to assure all the water flow OUT of it into the icemaker, and doesn't freeze up on contact. Make sure your coils and the airspace under the fridge are completely clean (vacuuum them well) and it should cure the problem.

thr tube leading to the ICM may be frozen. this can be removed through the back and cleaned. if it continues to freeze up it is likely the water valve.

Ice Maker not getting water Kenmore Side/Side 53642

2 things that could be wrong with these ice makers (Red light is solid, but no water to ice maker and My ice maker does not make ice and water is appearing on the floor). Either you have a defective water valve or your incoming tube is iced up. 2 ways to check:

1. Check your ice maker valve which is at the bottom of the refer. To find follow the water line into the back of the refer. it should connect to the water valve. Check and make sure there is 125V to the valve when it is in fill mode. Or look for and open condition at the solenoid (you check for open with a meter). When checking across the leads you shouldn't get any meter movement at all.

2. Remove the ice maker or the port that comes into the ice maker on the back of the refer (it is usually held in with 2 screws). Make sure it is not frozen up. If it is sometimes if you take regular insulation and pack it into the area where the port comes in that can stop the freezing problem.

Good Luck!
God Bless
