I put butter in to melt via microwave, and at then end of a minute, the butter was still solid. I thought maybe I had forgotten to press start, so I did it again, with the same result. The turntable turns, and the fan makes it's normal sound, but there is no "microwaving" happening. Any ideas?

the switches are on the left or right side or both (there may be two).locate them and theres 2 wires on the switch.jump them out.if there bad replace them as it would be a hazard issue for radiation not to.
SOURCE: No heat or rotate
Hi, I have the same problem, no heat and no rotate.
How can I check the door switches, how can I determine it is good or bad.
Do I need to open that front panel on the right hand side to check the in side.
Thanks a lot.
Wendy

Test the high voltage capacitor,
the rectifier diode.or the magnetron.
If it additionally does not spin and no light, then check also the door switch.
The diode and capacitors can br tested. The capacitor must be allowed
discharge before testing, or you risk to get electrocuted, even if
power is off. Capacitors can get discharged by shorting their two
contacts.
Replace the magnetron if the checks and all of the high voltage component tests are good, but the unit still does not heat.
All locations, and description of this parts can be located using the diagram here: Counter top.
Parts must be tested to find out what is wrong.
Remember that microwaves are potentially dangerous devices if not repaired properly, the job must be done by a competent person.
A microwave energy leakage test must always be performed when the oven is serviced for any reason.

try using a voltage stabiliser .it may just solve ur problem..

I fixed the problem with my microwave turntable motor without having to replace it. I removed the motor from the microwave and placed it in a small vise. Using a very small flat head screwdriver I was able to pry up the four tabs holding the casing together. You may need a slightly larger screwdriver after that to bend them back out of the way so you can remove the motor cover plate. Carefully take out all the plastic gears and note their position for re-assembly. You will find that the primary gear, at the bottom of the rest of the gears is attached to the motor magnet. It has a shaft that acts as a bushing passing through the center motor magnet. On the underside it is attached to a plastic washer. This is where it breaks. The motor magnet spins free of the gear/bushing/washer assembly. I used JB Weld epoxy to glue this assembly back together and it works like brand new. Note: On mine there were four indentations on each side of the motor magnet which corresponded to little ?bumps? on the underside of the gear on top and washer on the bottom. Place all the plastic gears back into the motor in the correct order, slide on the motor cover plate and use a small cold chisel with a round end and tap hammer to bend the tabs back into place.
