All Vespa's old or new run without need of lead as your engine internals are lubricated by either the gear oil or 2 stroke oil.
NO, leaded petrol is not needed!
regular no-lead gasoline is OK as 2-stroke engine is lubricated with the 2% oil mix in the gasoline.
The old PX from 1977-1981 need a 2% 2T Oil mixture in the Petrol or it will be broken in an instant....!
The mix should always be 2% oil = ratio 1:50
for 1 Gallon Petrol = 2,6 oz oil
(1 liter =20ml / for 5 liter =100ml of 2stroke oil)
- you better get an oil measuring jug to be sure -see photo

Doesn't sound too serious. Sounds like a problem with your carb not delivering enough petrol or air. Get a decent garage to check it out.

2% as most Vespas. Some folk like to add a bit more for a tuned engine.
SOURCE: Stupid question... what motor oil
Hi, Use any quality brand of gearbox oil in the ST 90 gear oil (SAE 30 motor oil) range. Recommended change period is about 3000 miles. Personally I use Rock Oil as I have yet to have a problem and don't know anyone who has when using it.
