ACER ASPIRE 5100 WONT BOOT

My Acer aspire 5100 just wont boot. It won't boot to safe mode either.
The Hard Drive Activity light stays on (Green) but the display remains black. I cannot get into the BIOS Setup either when I press F2.
I tried reinstalling windows and one time it got as far as trying to reformat the hard disk drive, then it froze and shut off.
What could be the cause of this problem ?
Thanks anyone for helping.

Yes, its gets very Hot even though I hear the fan spins and then stops. I tried the factory restore Cd I made, it got as far as 5 % then froze.

Try taking all of your ram chips out and re-seeting them. I upgraded to 4 gigabytes in my 5100 and it wouldn't boot, just a black screen with some cdrom and hd activity. Or try running with just one ram chip and then going into the bios and setting everything to default. this made my system bootable again.

Your harddisk MBR sector might be damaged, google fix mbr and resetup your harddisk mbr. After that it most likely will boot.

Acer aspire 1700 will not boot due to wrong hard drive download for mouse

Boot to safe mode and do a system restore from there.

Restart the computer and tap F8. Use the arrow key to highlight safe mode and hit enter.

Once inside safe mode, click on Start > PRograms > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

Select a date when you had no problem in the computer yet. Launch the restore. Wait for it until it completes the whole process.

Update all drivers. You can use RadarSync so that you won't have to undergo a lot of manual updates.

Acer aspire 5050 notebook mouse frozen turned on and off and wont work

Re-boot the laptop and check for a virus or errors on the hard drive. Use CHKDSK/F for the hard drive error check and a good anti virus programme, (Norton or Essentials).
Hope this cures your error.

Can get the aspire to boot to windows

try F8, that's usually safe mode. press it like once a second as it's booting.

what's your specific problem-- cant boot windows?

can you try putting a windows install disk in and choosing "repair" when it boots? (you want to make sure you dont format your drive though, repair wont do that usually if youre careful)

Acer Aspire 5100 wont boot, and I'mnow on this "EDIT BOOT OPTIONS" screen... It's seems that if I knew what to type in I could Undo whatever the issue is. Can someone please help me figure out what I do...

edit boot options is the order in which your computer will reboot... select hard drive... if it does not successfully boot up... reboot and tap the F8 key.... boot to last known good configuration... if that doesn't work... reboot... F8 the safe mode... if it will boot to safe mode reboot normally... should be fine

My Acer aspire 5100

If you are able, when the pc is booting up keep pressing F8, this will take you to safe mode and not allow the graphics driver to run. When in the safe mode options, select either Last known good configuration or start windows in safe mode. Last known good configuration should find the last good system settings, when it reboots. Start windows in safe mode allows you to go into windows using the administartor account, and then you should select system restore and restore back to the day before or just before you updated the graphics driver.
