My Acer aspire 5100 just wont boot. It won't boot to safe mode either.
The Hard Drive Activity light stays on (Green) but the display remains black. I cannot get into the BIOS Setup either when I press F2.
I tried reinstalling windows and one time it got as far as trying to reformat the hard disk drive, then it froze and shut off.
What could be the cause of this problem ?
Thanks anyone for helping.
Try taking all of your ram chips out and re-seeting them. I upgraded to 4 gigabytes in my 5100 and it wouldn't boot, just a black screen with some cdrom and hd activity. Or try running with just one ram chip and then going into the bios and setting everything to default. this made my system bootable again.
Your harddisk MBR sector might be damaged, google fix mbr and resetup your harddisk mbr. After that it most likely will boot.
